ABOUT ME

I got hooked on travel when I went to Holland for the first time in 1998. I have since fallen in love with Holland, Rome, Bergen (NO), Berlin(!!) and sooo many other places.

I am a fun and pretty spontaneous person. Wait, no, yes, I am. I enjoy drinking good beers and hanging out with friends. Salsa dancing is a hobby of mine; I've been doing it for almost a year. I also love languages - beginning Italian and Spanish, a tiny bit of Dutch, some very basic German....as long as it's not spoken too quickly! I enjoy also reading, mostly non-fiction books, current events, and learning in general.

I participate by telling LOTS of my friends about couchsurfing and going to events when I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some great people through CS. On my last trip to Germany and Belgium, I brought it up everywhere (when I wasn't with a CSer) and was pleasantly surprised that so many people had heard about it already or had just recently signed up. If they were new members, I totally encouraged them and shared the benefits of CS with them! I have definitely surfed more than hosted but when my couch is free, I'll be able to host more.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Documentaries and foreign films are my favorites.

Shantaram and currently reading a huge book about the History of the Arab Peoples. Very interesting! I bought Guns, Germs and Steel in the airport on the way home from my last trip. One of YOU recommended it to me. Finn? Gal? Finn, maybe? Darn. I'm reading it and I'm enjoying it very much!

Music: stuff I can dance to, world music, Salsa music, Indian music, Arabic music, even disco....

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Eh, there are too many to name. How do you choose? I loved being on the ship from Brindisi and coming towards Greece with the sun rising. Beautiful! Feeding baby goats in the community park in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands. Having the entire town of Gouvy, Belgium cheer for me and my (now ex) boyfriend during their Annual Raspberry Festival! I just returned from seeing the Northern Lights in Tromso, Norway on a completely spontaneous trip over New Year's!I love all of my travel experiences!On the opposite side of the spectrum, shoe sales in Milano! hee heeBasically I consider myself lucky to have seen what I have and to have a hunger for travel. There are far too many people who think that their own hometown is all they ever need.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I've been told I'm good at spreading happiness. I smile a lot. And I dance, even if there's no music. Maybe I spread happiness because people are laughing at me when I dance with no music. I just now put those two together. See, CS is a great learning forum!
