About Me

I can't write this part, so let's meet and I'll tell you everything I don't know.

PHILOSOPHY

In progress.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To make connections with awesome people, of course.

To help people out when I can, and to look for help when I'm in need.

Interests

Conversation, music, literature, trekking, art, philosophy, language, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

ALL OF THE MUSIC. Techno, House, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, Psychedelic, Rock, Ambient, Folk, Spanish Classical, Middle Eastern, stuff from all over the globe. Stuff with feeling.

Favourite authors include Alastair Gray, Henry Miller, Margaret Atwood, Milan Kundera, Hermann Hesse, Carson McCullers. My new favourite short story is by Virgilio Piñera and my favourite poet is the one I met down a dark, dark alley.

I don't watch films as often as I used to but when I do, they are things like Taxi Driver, True Romance, Wings of Desire, La Jetee, and all sorts of documentaries. Boredom is occasionally enhanced by The L Word or some other trash TV.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My absolute favourite thing is too see people being passionate - DJing, playing their instrument, taking their photos, arguing their point, following their interest, doing whatever it is that makes them their most alive.

I wept at Machu Picchu (but I'm a softie like that).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and a bit of Spanish. I like to at least try to learn whatever people have to show me.

Life is all about sharing I think, and we manage it by degrees. I'm working on this.

What I Can Share with Hosts

At the time of writing I have some Nepali sweets, a fridge magnet or two and a smile. Some of which are more perishable than others.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bolivia, China, Cyprus, Georgia, Italy, Laos, Nepal, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
