About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore and experience Catalunya with Merce!

ABOUT ME

Well, I am 52 and Merce is a bit younger(!). I work on manuscripts and books for my small publishing house aswell as conmducting research and tours concerning the Spanish Civil War and the International brigades (see www.pdlhistoria.wordpress.com) My interest is principally in the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War and I am now living in Barcelona with Merce in BCN having finished off renovating an old chapel close to the Blaenafon World Heritage site. With my son off at University there is little to hold me back and therefore I am now living in Barcelona and where we have a couch to offer.

My partner, Merce, is Catalan and is keen and curious to experience the exchanges through couchsurfing. We both look forward to meeting fellow couchsurfers!

PHILOSOPHY

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day something amazing happens to me! Some good, some bad, but I know that they are for me to learn from and accept and move on.

Teach, Learn, Share

Having hosted VSO exchange students from Khazakstan and my son having done the same in Nigeria I enjoy exchanging ideas and ways of doing things most of my life. I have travelled in my late teens and early twenties and though older (but wiser?) I still have that inate curiosity to learn from others and enable others to achieve all that they can. My work with Wales Social Serviceswith young people excluded from school filled me with great joy in having allowed them to do so many things. I miss that!

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Botswana, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mali, Morocco, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Zimbabwe

Countries I’ve Lived In
