About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To turn life into tunes and tunes into life.

ABOUT ME

Blue collar scholar, singer/songwriter, truck driver, deltiologist and movie extra. Have worked in a previous life in newspaper production as a typesetter and layout person; later landed a gig as assistant to the curator of two museums in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1987 I launched a concert/food drive which is now in its 26th year and raises tons of food and millions of dollars for food banks.

PHILOSOPHY

Pretty much the Joseph Campbell approach to bliss-following.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed, hosted and met for coffee with many CS'ers over the years. Wherever I head out, I'm usually able to find a friendly face. So far, so good in Hungary, France, Poland, Israel, Belgium and all across the United States.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed all across the USA, Europe and the Mideast. Some of my hosts have in return stopped to visit me as well. In my line of wandering, I've referred many other nomadic musicians and hospitable club owners to the charms of CouchSurfing.

Interests

Interested in music, photography, artists like Saul Steinberg, Bernice Abbott, Thomas Hart Benton and Spike Jones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked in the funeral procession of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Teach, Learn, Share

In the not so distant past, I taught a class in the History of the Blues at the local community college. Was later an advisor to Robert Mugge's film "Deep Blues," which visited the haunts of Delta bluesman. In another music documentary, "Chasin' Gus' Ghost," I join Maria Muldaur, Charlie Musselwhite and others in a history of jug band music.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, France, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Poland
