About Me

CURRENT MISSION: I’m in Tulum, Mexico working on a start up for social good. I just moved here from Florida and before that Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where I taught yoga, global citizenship and emotional intelligence .

Previously, I traveled to Italy, Dubai, Thailand, Hong Kong and Myanmar! I also went to Yoga Teacher Training in Goa, India. It's been about five years so the rest of my profile needs an update. I have been teaching marine science and conservation at the Monterey Bay Aquarium until last year then started teaching yoga in Santa Cruz, California.
ABOUT ME I have been travelling a lot in the past and lived in Barcelona, Dublin and San Francisco. The more I travel, the more I realize how much I love to learn about people from every corner of the world, their culture, but also their personalities. I am hoping to continue my travels throughout South East Asia while I am living there to teach. I would like to visit South America in the future. I am a teacher by profession, but I am a student at heart. I like to dream big and I'm an optimist.
PHILOSOPHY I believe that each of us carries around a core set of understandings and philosophies about life as well as a history rich in individuality. This core set is ever-changing and grows with each interaction where we allow ourselves to open up to another person. I love learning and this is my absolute favorite part of meeting new people because I really believe we reshape eachother for the better. I find the expressions 'to walk in someone else's shoes' or 'see the world through someone else's eyes' best fit how I hope to explore the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

CS has been an integral part of my life in Ireland and Barcelona where I lived and met a great group of people. I hope to be out exploring every chance possible and meeting new people each place I go. I really enjoyed all of my Euro CS experiences and I hope to become more involved as I continue my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had the most stellar CS experience in Italy, I stayed with 4 CSers in different parts of the North and they all were utterly amazing. This trip renewed my faith in people and relit my passion for CS. It was probably the best trip I have taken to date, mostly because it was so authentic thanks to CS and my kind, generous and interesting hosts!
I was also lucky to live in Dublin where CS life is active and rich with diversity. I recommend you go visit and check it out for yourself!
Back stateside, I had an amazing experience road tripping from Seattle, WA to Albuquerque, NM with a fellow CSer that I had previously hosted in California.

Interests

I love water and water sports; I played water polo for 7 years and was on a swim team for 15 years. I’m a PADI certified rescue and free diver. I love surfing, scuba, snorkeling, anything in the ocean or pool I am game for.
In general I love being outdoors. I really like hiking and am a novice rock climber.
I am also a book worm. I love to read all sorts of novels and books, from classic to less than literature :D
I am very outgoing, I love conversations with interesting strangers. I like to hear about the experiences of others.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well I am a book nerd- by that I mean I read anything and everything that captures my attention. This tends to be things that make me laugh or think about life in a new way.
I am similar in movies as with books, I like comedies, but not stupid comedy, it takes a little bit more to capture my attention and hold it.
I love all types of music; recently I have been flipping back and forth from old school rap and jazz. I am open to all sorts of music and tend to go through fazes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meeting a stranger who has become a lifelong friend and taking a roadtrip to a place I never thought I would go because of CS. I am referring to my friend Brea, a CSer, who has shown me new ways to see and love life. I learned to take a chance and trust in good people. Who knew that New Mexico would be so inspiring?

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach yoga, ocean science, and English! I would like advice on places where you think I absolutely must visit and any advice for a fellow couch surfer. I study sociology, psychology and how to make people, families and communities better. I hope to use this in the future with my work, but I am willing to share with anyone interested.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a professional entertainer and real mermaid. I love to share stories and learn about people. I am your gal for game night or dance party. I'm crafty and love to make art. I'm a decent cook too, I specialize in vegan but I know plently of carniverous delights as well. I like to think that you should leave people and places better than you found them whenever possible. I am a certified yoga instructor and TESOL/TEFL teacher. I can help with your English homework or lead a yoga session. :)
