I happen to know a decent amount about Lyme Disease from working in a research lab, and since there seems to be so much misinformation about it, here are some facts:

Deer Ticks go through three life stages: larva, nymph, adult.

Larvae cannot transmit Lyme Disease. Both nymphs and adults can.

Deer Ticks live in wooded areas with lots of leaf litter. They do not live in meadows or grassy areas.

The only method you should use for removing a deer tick is pulling it out with a pair of tweezers as close to the skin as possible. DO NOT use a flame, gasoline or alcohol.

There is no test to detect the Lyme bacteria in human blood and so we do not know what causes recurring Lyme symptoms after treatment.

Be careful out there.
