ABOUT ME

I enjoy meeting people that have different stories to tell--I am a good listener! I am an artist, I create visual stories using rusty metal, watercolors, ink, oil pastels...I crochet freestyle, I plant flowers and sometimes they grow;

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what it is whether you understand ... or not--live each moment and try to stay in the present ( I don't always manage to do this). I am old enought to want to know what I don't know and realize that is a HUGE volume of material so I am going to get started right away!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My couch is available...my kitchen...a glass of wine, a bottle of beer, a shot of ???? I am retired and living in a small apartment so will have to check with my roomate/husband.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am just now getting the info down on all this so I have yet to experience much of anything---moved to Anchorage, AK last year.

Interests

Reading, writing, drawing, painting, teaching (high school, middle school students), going to the mountains, breathing deeply, cooking, eating, drinking different beers, wine...flea markets, garage sales, junk stores, ebay--I love it when I don't pay full price for something! I have traveled to many places in the States and Mexico...now have added Alaska to the list!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC, all kinds! Movies: The Moulin Rouge, Babbett's Feast, Antonia's Line, documentaries. Books: A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth (very good), anything by Kinky Freeman (very intertaining), whatever I am currently reading which is a totally trashy novel that has no socially redeemeing content whatsoever!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing in front of a Mark Tobey painting, experiencing the full impact of seeing and knowing at the same time that I was looking at this artwork, the brushstrokes,the colors...I was overcome with an intense emotion, overwhelming; I have trouble describing this...

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching really consists of helping others find for themselves what they need at any particular moment...listening is integral to that process. I can teach someone how to make a kickass lamb curry! I can teach you how to make a pair of earrings in a flash--I can teach you how to paint with yarn; I can help you see many uses for junk and trash.
