About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Mardi Gras + Maybe we'll see y'all on Tuesday, mighty Tuesday !

Previously,
"Northward to Canadia! ~ w/ a banjo on m' knee."

ABOUT ME

Have a youngish' salty, appearance, am a gentle, growling jocko'mo looking folk-head,
'Surf dewd' looking sort of cat.

I gladly willing to read interesting things aloud to you, or, observe the pleasantness of quiet and the sounds of our surroundings.

Olive Tanish,

PHILOSOPHY

[*Tao, tao, tao, tao, tao . . . buddha? Tao, tao, tao, tao tao. . ...Saints? Yes, sure. _Tao, tao, tao, tao . . ... Mess, order, mess, order, mess, order, mess... Lattice & tapestry.
Various forms of greater awareness cultivation, returning to shared primary comprehensions and at the end, it was all music, color, relations and the wholeness of all imaginable texture.

"Nature being everything which surrounds us, exerting it's reality. -It is the sum of many agreements, harmonizing even amidst all orders of apparent disagreement, it seems ."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love sharing perspectives, in music,
+ believe some kind(s) of theatrical, expressive participation are a birthright to anyone who cares to share. I believe in providing more than the cost of having me whenever possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have had a very good time + met very interesting, amazing people so-far w/ the Couchsurfing networks,
-As host and a Traveler, though I feel I've just gotten started. -& May it remain a wonderful scene!

Interests

Picking a banjar + singing:
Folk Music + Community Camping,

-Very much An appreciator of the, "Sailor Chanties" & "Field Hollers", i.e. Work songs from long ago, + the continued sharing of them; Though I can perform just a double-handful all the way through.
-Many I started learning as a young kid, and have recently begun catching up, learning scattered remaining verses of.

More recently, riding trains, w/ both hands gripping tightly (!)

Bay Coastal-Rowing, Bat-cave-communinion, Reiki { is real, by all apparent observable data.}

-= Communcation via 'Avant-noise + Music & theater, or a long hike and an evening doing the Sauna w/ pals
are my idea of an afternoon well spent. =-

I have also been studying various aspects of engineering and industrial design, but largely for the purposes of building + repairing things & then being able to show others how they work. I am a student as well as a 'teacherly sort' of person.

Intentional community oriented Festivals have been amongst the special things happening on the planet which I've encountered and participated in some varieties with, but virtually any festival or party situation ( -where participants are really excited to be there, ) can do the trick. Unfortunately, the festival of the burning man isn't what it once was, though massively Inspiring for creative purposes just the same,
i do recommend it still to those interested in expanding their sense of overall individual and collective creative scope.

I'm interested helping forward our culture(s) in worthwhile, better-grounded ways than the commercial culture tends to engender-

As humanity's entering into these new epic periods we keep hearing of, it being the official early days of the "Thousands",

-And seeing so much constant peripheral evidence of opportunities for us to develop ourselves into well rounded, conscious docent-participants in the unfoldment of these times.

-Shoveling up on great ideas, in the form of the insights of people Artists & Authors who give us consistently bright ideas. I believe in Eleanore Roosevelt, Buckminster Fuller, Woodie Guthrie, John Steinbeck, you know. The masterful history makers, which anyone becomes locally, as we're inspired to do the work.

"This book will change your life"

-These are some of my favorite books & authors-

*There was also this horrible man named Ivan Stang, who is to generally to blame for freeing many from giving a rat's \\\\\Indian////// darn about whatever derisive bit anybody wants to do think or say about anything, ever, at all, because it's all ground turkey.
Everything . . . The bioshere of the planet Earth + Star matter itself.

- Unless it's a humorous , or exciting, or alternately so awful and horrifying
that profound + shocking irony, simply rules any natural response. There, we have something of the philosophy of the cult of the sub-genius. It also allows pure genius & total stupidity to swap clothing, via critically amassing audacity and irony.

Musically, Ever heard of "Screamin'" Jay hawkins" ?
John Lee Hooker -Soledad Prison- ,
Spooky Tooth? , Sly and the Family . . .

How about a Noweigian band called "Noxagt"?
Or, "The dirt bombs" from Detroit?

The Gossip -2nd album-
Melt B.

MGMT, Alan Lomax: Smithsonian Folk,

Clancy brothers,
Folk Legacy

& . . . .

Alright,

The original early black sabbath, is really
special + fine material, worthy of it's spot as a cornerstone in musical history. It just is.
- James Brown, Fugazi
Peelander Zee,
Antebalas Afrobeat, Fela Kuti,
Older AC/DC
Lee Scratch "made a thousand + albums" Perry,
Desmond decker, the Meters,
Um, Umma Yumm,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Have hiked + stamped in the halls of the rail way stations, yelled orations in foreign languages in full costume ceremonially in broad daylight, and in the dead of night.

-Run up San Francisco hills in a tux, to catch my ex- lover's wedding, and seen & caught hundred-dollar bills flying in gusts up a windy street with a friend from TX, near the same spot years later, -chasing and stomping them down . .. And giving them all back.

-Have played starring roles in certain southerly avant garde theatre situations,
and helped generate other types of it on streets & in public places.

-Once witnessed the ritual sacrifice, of a Parking Meter in New York city, and accompanying poetry. It was quite amazing.

Hmmmmm,

I also once took a face plant off of a ramp on a scooter as a kid. + That was Amazingly un-fun!

-Lived in cooperative households + a few of their exciting past'times.

-Worked with street-artists & heroes of various sorts, in urban capitals, promoting all effectiveness + message-oriented work.

Helped to engender the
"Assistive-Audiencing" {otherwise called, "Positive Heckling" } movements in venues & towns in numerous parts of the country. It works, Carefully engaged in,
it can be very helpful to performers to have positive audience participation. Sometimes, a stoic crowd will even take to dancing ~

Managed to introduce + share the primary ideas of Ghandi's beliefs to an ordinarily 'hard-line-stance' Catholic matriarch, in a language that I could only marginally communicate in at the time + she thanked me for communicating some of those notions.

-Have seen cloud formations at sun-rise, forming hosts of perfect, detailed pan-cultural angels-

-Planted Gardens with gardeners who claimed brown thumbs & watched them bloom, to our exultant amazement.

-Been paid to be a clown,
as a college weekend job, making kids want to learn magic tricks + how to play musical instruments.

-Helped stop minor riots + keep fistfights from getting too brutal on bar-scenes on several occasions.

-Made things out of metal /Scrap Materials Which work well & are even pretty.

-Argued with police about beligerent use of force or questionable conduct over the course of several hours, been encarcerated for it, and then released, on the basis that in end they had to admit that I was right.

-Played diplomat between social organizations, of similar perspective, hundreds of miles away from eachother.

-Made + served soup in a public place, more than once,

-Meet & have a great conversations with, or interview an amazing person with whom I am still in touch;
More than a few times . . . & That, is Always Amazing to me.

*This stuff is true,
as well as the minor cut of some of the things, which I've been honored to experience participate in.

Teach, Learn, Share

Heard of the Free School { Skool,} movement?_
Community based skill-sharing is excellent ourselves & one-another by exchanging abilities and knowledge, that can be commenced w/ anywhere people are willing + interested.

People who make & do things are most interesting indeed . .
& that's an awful lot of people!
