Обо мне

CURRENT MISSION

To learn how to be a great teacher

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small safe town outside Boston. diversity was a not a big part of my life, which is partly why my family moved to Budapest for 2 years. I study psychology and french. I think i'm a psychologist at heart because people and social interaction interest me alot. I'm extremely social, love talking to strangers, as long as i'm comfortable, which is most of the time. I'm idealist when it comes to kindness and honesty. I trust people alot, i always assume the best of someone, I much prefer saying hi and smiling rather than looking away.
two years ago in this text I wrote: "i think i want my life to revolve around traveling, living abroad, instant gratification rather than settling down and making money, but who knows if that'll last."
However, I am starting to change. I love europe, but home in the US is calling. My family has become the most important thing to me, and they are all conveniently (or inconveniently) located in the Boston area of the US.
I am therefore, now back around Boston, Teaching French in a high school.
PHILOSOPHY

positive people make the world go round.Do your part, be kind.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

live with new roomates who do not know CS so I won't be able to host at the moment. I live 15 minutes south of Boston by the metro (the T) as we call it. Happy to share a drink, but I don't go into the city often as my life is based in the suburbs.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had such great experiences with CS. I love staying with locals and entering into the daily lives of strangers. It is hands down, the best way to learn about a new place and people.
I especially enjoyed CS while I lived in Paris and wasn't working much. I met so many great people and did lots of fun spontaneous things with them.

Классная вещь, которую я сделал(-а)

I lived in Hungary for two years when I was younger (amongst Americans this is considered interesting.) I did a service project in South Africa. My family tracked down our ancestors in Slovakia that no one had talked to for 50 years. we visited them with hardly any common language but still felt an amazing connection.

Учу, учусь, делюсь опытом и информацией

I'm always wondering about the best way to approach connecting with people. For a while I've enthusiastically believed in open kindness, smiles and trust in all. However recently I've wondered if this is the best way. I think that if everyone is positive, the shared optimism can help during hard times. But I also appreciate being real, and sometimes think that perhaps slowly getting to know people is better. thoughts?
As a language enthusiast, I love discussing language differences, such as the meaning behind words and expressions, and finding equivalents. Also the role of language in our lives is a fascinating subject.
I want to be a French teacher and sometimes I find it difficult convincing young americans to learn French. any help on this? Couchsurfing is a perfect example of how English is arbitrarily dominating the world. It makes sense, I understand why, but at the same time, as a native english speaker, it feels a little unfair. This is the kind of stuff I enjoy discussing with people.
