About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To boldy go where many have gone before...

ABOUT ME

I'm an earth-lovin', animal-kissin', vegan-eatin', sociology studyin' gal desperate to get to know this planet I live on!

PHILOSOPHY

"I wake each morning torn between the desire to improve the world and the desire to enjoy it. It makes it hard to plan the day."
--E.B. White

I'm trying to be the change I want to see in the world... and keeping an open mind and a friendly outlook.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think the problems we face as a global community are directly related to the fact that so many don't see the world for the big connected thing that it is. The way we live our lives has to do with so much more than what we see every day. I have opened my house a few times to people I know and sometimes don't know too well... each little thing we do to get to know the people who we don't always get to know helps. To use an awful analogy, it's like a chain letter... spreading kindness and spreading hope that we will one day be able to see the world as made up of the people and not just some abstract lump that we live on.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed a few couches in my day, not through this website yet. I'm always amazed by and grateful for the kindness of strangers who becomes friends when they open their home and their furniture.

Interests

Everything. Nerds. Cool people. Animals. Puppies. Vegans. Learning. Breathing. Making friends. Farming. Homesteading. Sociology. Philosophy. Ethical dilemmas. EATING! Gosh, this list making is hard!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I know I should think of something more profound, but this is all I can come up with at the moment: that the other day I was taking a friend on a tour of Toronto and very drunk man dribbled yogurt (from his mouth) down my friend's arm. He apologized and then tried to clean if off by rubbing it into her arm like it was lotion. I truly was awestruck.

I've experienced profound beauty in this world too. Perhaps that moment was also beautiful in it's own way.
