About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Bring the world back to my home town and with my partner, raise a kind and ever-curious world traveler.

ABOUT ME

I have lived in 5 countries and traveled to 6 continents. I spent the majority of the past decade living in various parts of Africa.

I am now back in my hometown of Madison, WI, USA with my husband, Charles and our 7 year old, Oliver.

We get a lot of couch requests so we will not be accepting generic couch requests. Use my (real) name, use my husband's real name and tell us why you'd like to meet us, not just why you want a free place to crash.

PHILOSOPHY

"I remember that time that you told me, you said love is touching souls surely you touched mine cause part of you pours out of me in these lines from time to time."

"With every lesson learned, a line upon your beautiful face."

I stole these from the Joni Mitchell song "A Case of You" and Indigo Girls "Get Out the Map" Putting them together I come away with: Take what you can, learn, really learn from every experience, good or bad and especially let yourself learn and grow from those people who touch your life. After all we really are little more than the accumulation of our experiences, relationships and how we choose to react to them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a member since late 2007 when I took a fabulous trip with my great friend Allison. We both couldn't get enough and we're still couchsurfing to this day.

From my first experience with CS I have preferred it to staying in hotels while traveling, and I really get disappointed (and super bored) if I have to stay in a hotel. I have met some close and life-long friends through CS so I can say that it really has changed my life.

Interests

When work isn't taking over my life I like getting outside and enjoying what Dane County and Southern Wisconsin have to offer. I love playing with my little guy and we've just started camping with him and hope that will continue to be a great get-away.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I love anything I can't predict the ending 5 minutes in, twists and turns.

Music: Singer-songwriter, blues, bluegrass, lingala, highlife, show tunes, I could go on and on.

Books: The Poisonwood Bible, Stiff and Guns, Germs and Steel are a few that I've recommended to many people. I also love Sedaris, especially the parts that make me laugh until I cry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen sunsets, sunrises, waterfalls, mountains, met the beautiful people of so many countries.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some good conversation, midwestern friendliness and a delicious meal.
