About Me

My current life:

I've been a vagabond for long, a treasure chest full of inestimable memories the rich bounty. Now I'd like to think to be ready to settle - to have some steady life for longer than just one or two years.

Hanover is homecoming in some way. Grew up in the rural surroundings and now back after nearly 20 years elsewhere.
Moved here as a couple - but coming September we'll permanently host a tiny earthling who will hopefully leave a positive reference at some point in the far future:-)

I gotta try to cure my itchy for now in order to accept the most exciting of all journeys that's coming up now.
Couchsurfing has always been a wonderful companion in all those phases of static life and especially nomadic life - may it continue to add the indispensable flavour to all our daily dish of experiences and encounters!

Me:

Enjoying the dust of the road and a fire at some lonely beach instead of the airconditioned comfort of an airplane seat and the bubbling luxury of a jacuzzi.

Listening carefully to the tales of wind and waves instead of getting soaked up by fantastic promises of infinite happiness on the airwaves and flatscreens.

Preferring to cry in honest misery instead of smiling in fake elation.

Seeking freedom - while knowing that it's impossible to be completely free.

Looking for sunshine - while knowing that it's impossible to appreciate the sun without exposing yourself to rain.

Swimming against streams - while knowing about the convenience of just floating along.

I don't believe in age, since the development of a mind doesn't follow any standardized schedule.

I don't believe in first impressions, since a single moment is almost always about the shell instead of the core.

I don't believe in wrong or right, because I learned there are rarely such things but rather subjective perceptions dependent on situations, angles and biographies (sure: there are exceptions)

I don't believe too much in logic, since most of the really important things in life usually don't follow any rules of logic.

I don't believe in mankind as a whole, since I see humanity as a misconception of nature. No other living being works against it's own fate the way mankind does.
BUT I DO believe in the single human being itself. Accepting the imperfection, there is something beautiful and a lot of good in every single soul around.

I do believe in children, since their pureness, honesty and distinctiveness give hints about how humans were supposed to be.

I do believe in dreams, since they are what we should pursue and they give us a meaning to move forward.

I do believe in love. It is the superlative of all extremes. Love is being the strongest and weakest, the most invulnerable and most vulnerable, the most fulfilling and emptiest at the same time. It can be everything between heaven and hell, living and dying, succeeding and failing, salvation and condemnation. It's a basic need, it's one of those things making life worth living.

I do believe in the power of smiling. In this global language of appreciation, respect and unselfishness. In changing moods and sometimes fates by a tiny movement of the corners of the mouth that became way to rare in many places...

Yet, I'm discontent, unpersistent, inconsequent and sometimes incredibly complicated. I keep stumbling, falling and complaining.
I'm always searching something but rarely know what exactly.
I try the hardest to follow my heart - but more often then not reality catches up with me and beats me down.

But I'm trying. And that's maybe more then some people can say!

And I'm content walking slowly on those difficult, curling path with open eyes, trying to find happiness instead of racing blindly on the fast lane pretending to be happy.

I have a lot to give, since I've been given too much already by those many beautiful people crossing paths with me.

PHILOSOPHY

This is work in progress - and will be till my very end probably.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CS has been a key part of my static and road life for many years now and the people here gifted me countless beautiful experiences and memories.

While certain developments concern me, the general idea is still alive in it's very core - being carried on by all of us who love what such a community can bring to our lifes and the impact it can have on our societies.

As we traveled by bicycle before, I know a lot about bikes - if it helps anybody.
In general, having spent quite some time on the road, I am happy to give all kind of advice that worked for me to people new to the nomadic way. Tried to travel with as little money as possible.

I'm interested to learn different things - especially useful skills to lead a rather self sufficient life (e.g. wood and mechanical work, gardening, cooking but much more, like music, horse riding or photography)
