About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Greedily absorbing all I can about fiddle playing, and trying to figure out just what the heck I'm hear to lean otherwise!

ABOUT ME

If you play fiddle/flute/guitar Irish/ bent instrument, I would love to show you around to the various Irish or old time sessions in Toronto, and there's nearly one everyday of the week. I haven't been to any in awhile now that I work full time, as they generally start around 9pm at night, and 'just going for 1 hour" NEVER happens! :)

I'm a true Sagittarius in that I am usually interested in just about anything, but I'm not good at sticking with anything. I like learning to cook, I kyack when I can. I was in french immersion growing up, and now I love Quebec, especially the Traditional music that I am trying to learn to play. I'm trying to learn Podorythmie! Fiddle is my first love. I've recently started to learn guitar. If I win the lottery, I"ll go from working full time to studying music full time.

PHILOSOPHY

Just trying to understand the world. I try to practice Gratitude in all I do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to a few events, and I keep trying to get out to more. I host when I can, which is usually on weekends when I'm not working or home visiting family. I can usually show people around after work on weekdays. I can also help people find information about the city if they are trying to figure something out.

If you are travelling and looking for something to do, you should check out Now's events.. (also keep your eye out for the Free Now magazine boxes and pick one up)
http://www.nowtoronto.com/news/events.cfm

There's also a page for movies, music, theater ect.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted two girls from Vancouver for a week, though it was for a musical thing, and wasn't arranged through this site, but they were strangers to me before I met them. More recently I stayed with a wonderful lady up in Orangeville, who originally said she never thought anyone would ever need to stay up there.. I'm so glad she joined!! I've hosted women from Boston and another lady from Denmark for two days.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ashley MacIsaac (is God), Enter the Haggis, Great Big Sea, Jean Carignan, Andre Brunet, Pascal Gemme, Tragiccally Hip, OK Go, Vampyre Weekend, sci-fie /twist/intelligent films/docs. If a plotline is boy meets girl, they fight, they make up, happy ending.. toss it! Far too predictable. Books: Bill Bryson, elegant universe, Jack Evans, ect.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen Ashely McIsaac six times. I've been to the week long Andre Burnet QueTrad Fiddle Camp. I've seen som beautiful scenery, and I get to teach basic photography to adults and grandparents who are often very happy for learning from a someone who "doesn't make them feel stupid about basics". I have two amazing nieces, and I'm really hoping they'll be interested in fiddle. Otherwise? I traveled down to New York once to interview one of the band members from Runrig. Also did a few other interviews with Greenwich Meantime. I've been to a very spur of the moment trip to St. Johns, ie. I was already sitting in a plane to Quebec when I decided to go. I've been to some incredible fiddle jam sessions in Orangeville and in Pembroke. I've seen incredible generosity and love spread through 10,000 people at a 2 week medieval camping event down in Pennsylvania. It's always beautiful to see people able to come together like that to share something they love. And now I've found Counchsurfing! Oh.. and I FINALLY got my G2 at 30!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn anything about music. guitar, fiddle, Djembee, voice, theory.

I can teach a bit of French and fiddle. I also end up finding my self in conversations regarding love, and the whole "behind the scenes" of life/pshycology/human condition.

I've heard that you meet everyone for a reason, to help each other out ect. You have a message for everyone, and everyone has a message for you. I think that's romantic!
