ABOUT ME

(I need to update all this...)
I'm very passionate about what I believe in, so I tend to over commit myself to too many organizations and groups that are focused on social and environmental justice. I love keeping busy!

Most recently, I ran a youth empowered after school cooking program at a local high school using mainly seasonal farm fresh veggies and fruits. We explored our food system, cook up some amazing dishes and shared some wonderful dinners together.
Ive also been volunteering with an organization that focuses on getting YOUNG people to vote. Voting is important. Are you registered?

In the past 3 years, I have lived both in an official housing cooperative (Bob T. House) and an unofficial cooperative (Blackbox). The experiences were mainly positive with lots of growing opportunities. Cooperatives models are something I am passionate about and would love to hear others experiences!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

UPDATE as of 3/26/15: Back in Seattle but can't host.

I'm nearly a "true" Seattlite as have been here since the age of 1. My life routine tends to revolve the trendy, very liberal, younger part of town where a good majority of the bars, restaurants, coffeeshops, art and music happens. I support local economies and local businesses.

That being said, I can make a long, detailed itinerary for CSers with nearly any interest. I wouldn't advise vistors to the mall (although Northgate WAS the first real mall in 'merica.) nor would I suggest eating at Cheesecake Factory or Starbucks. Rather, I'd point visitors to hidden gems, artfully decorated, great deals, authentic-made-with-love sort of places. I'd even add in tidbits of Seattle history, architecture features and folklore. I research building histories quite often and keep up on transportation issues and restaurant openings to a degree that may be embarrassing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't officially hosted yet, although I have incidentally hosted folks who have couch surfing accounts.

Interests

Cooking, eating, urban farming, double dutch, healing, healing my gut, coffee, recycling, upcycling, cycling, gluten/sugar free baked goods, being civicly engaged, collecting beautiful jewelry, cooking, being environmentally conscious, living cooperatively, being proactive and not reactive, being politically correct, being super positive, making change, dancing, watching documentaries, preserving traditional knowledge of food and being involved in my community. Not in that order.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting lost 2 hours away from my home stay in the middle of rural Tanzania. There was wilderness as far as you could see.

Getting hit by a motorcycle an hour before I was supposed to board a flight home.

Thinking that a wild hog was going to eat me alive. Turns out it was just a skunk.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to deal with food intolerances of all sorts... or atleast I try. In the process of trying to heal myself, I have learned a fair amount about cleanses of all sorts and herbal medicine. Even with all my restrictions, I'm a darn good cook (if i do say so myself).

Countries I’ve Visited
