About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spreading peace, love & joy....and discovering new food!

ABOUT ME

Cat: age 27
John: age 43

I graduated in 2010 from Seattle Pacific University studying Global Development Studies, Theology, and Women Studies. Back in 2010-2011, I spent 9 months traveling Europe. While staying on the wee Isle of Iona, I fell in love with my husband, John. We spent our time in Scotland working at a hostel and sheep farming. We moved to Seattle, where we lived for the past three years, both working in the chocolate industry. We recently moved to central Washington and live in Yakima, a medium sized agricultural town focused on tree fruit, wine and hops. We both have the travel bug and love meeting new people.

John and I love to go hiking! We were able to check off one of my bucket list items... And hiked the West Highland Way in 2012.
John and I both love to cook... unfortunately, I have a gluten allergy (no breads, pastas, or cakes). I love baking and cooking though and would love to cook food for you!

My "To See" and "To Do" List:
See Uluru in Australia
See The Northern Lights
Spend the night in an igloo
Visit a cacao farm and help harvest the crop
Cycle along the Rhine River
✅Hike the West Highland Way
Go to Antartica
Travel on a boat for at least a week (not a cruise ship)

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live my life best to show love for others. Peace will unite us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My mom couch surfed through Australia and recommended it for me on my travels. I currently don't have a couch to offer, but if I have time, I would love to grab coffee and chat! I love sharing stories. I think it is so important to be able to connect with travel, uniting our world together through different experiences.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 6 I went on a road trip with my mom across the U.S....I guess the travel bug started there. By the time I graduated high school I had camped with my mom on the Alvord Desert in Oregon where we land sailed and flew above it...I traveled on a whim to Morocco and met some amazing people, both in the city and in the Berber Atlas Mountains...in the summer of 2010 I went on a road trip that included hiking in Boise to a hot springs and enjoying friends...in the winter of 2010 I traveled to Los Cabos, and when I got bored of the mass of tourists I hoped on a bus and traveled north to Todos Santos and La Paz, where I went to Balandra and laid in the sun with new friends. From 2010-2011 I traveled in Europe, harvesting olives in Italy, caring for sheep in Scotland ... and met the love of my life. We still both love to travel, but tend to do most of our exploring state-side. When we do get a chance to travel internationally, we tend to be going back to England for John's family.

Teach, Learn, Share

Lessons learned from traveling:
1) Don't dry underwear on a stove top.
2) Don`t buy cheap tourist umbrellas.
3) Be careful where you step in a host`s home...some leave odd things on the stairs...and you could hurt yourself, or the object
