ABOUT ME

I have an unquenchable wanderlust; I move cities and even countries every couple years and am constantly traveling, even if it's just a day trip outside my current home base. I love fashion and design clothing; I also style for my photographer friends. I love to party at trendy clubs, but some of my best nights have been at tiny dive bars or at a friend's house. My favorite cities to live in have good mass transit; I prefer riding the subway to driving a car, and prefer riding my bike over all. I love going out at night and just dancing in the street! I have to confess a love for karaoke too.

PHILOSOPHY

I'd rather do now than regret later; if I have a chance to see somewhere new or try something different, I'm going to take it. It's all the same in the end, so why not enjoy what you can?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't been active in the community for a while because work got in the way, but I'm about to embark on a two month long vacation through Asia so I'm hoping to join some events and meet some people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love to surf through cities because you get to meet some great people and have an experience you wouldn't get just by staying in a hotel and hitting all the tourist spots. It's way more than just a place to stay the night, it's a chance to meet friends and get the true pulse of a place!

Interests

Sightseeing, shopping, fashion, clubbing, drinking, reading, going to plays, going to concerts, going out with friends and doing nothing, karaoke, dance. Life, turquoise, impractical shoes. Haruki Murakami and Tom Stoppard. Japanese idol scandals. Horror movies!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Oscar Wilde and Haruki Murakami. My favorite books are "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" and "The Picture of Dorian Gray."

My favorite movie is, unashamedly, "The Matrix." I love horror movies too, especially ghost movies. I enjoy Ghibli films but am not a huge fan of anime in general. I like small human drama films, but I hate romantic comedy.

As far as music, I'm pretty open to different things. I listen to different kinds of music depending on what kind of mood I'm in. The only music genre I consistently dislike is country, but I'm willing to change my mind if I ever come across a country song I actually enjoy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the sunrise from the top of Mt. Fuji after a 6-hour climb in darkness and freezing cold.
The snow festival in Sapporo. Snowboarding in Nagano.
Clubbing in the snow, partying on the roof of an abandoned warehouse.
Eating the best sushi I've ever tasted in a tiny fishing town on Tsushima.
Camping on a tiny island off the coast of Tokyo.
The penis park in Korea. The demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. Shopping at two in the morning in Dongdaemun.
Snorkeling in Hawaii. Parasailing. Sailing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an English teacher, so if you'd like to learn English I can hook you up there. I'm also pretty good at styling, so if you need a closet makeover or want to practice accessorizing, let me know.
I always want to practice my French and Japanese, so if you know these languages, I'd love to try to have a conversation.
I'm about to head to China for two weeks, so I'm trying to learn some basic Mandarin at the moment!
