I think couch surfing is a great idea. I moved in 2013 from Amherst, Massachusetts to Crestone, CO in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In Amherst, I lived in an apartment with no room to host. Here in Crestone, I own a house with a spare guest room.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Limited but two wonderful experiences with hosts here in Colorado.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Currently, I am traveling.
When I am home in Crestone, I can share a place to sleep for a night in a spare guest room with a queen bed, and a meal or two. I have a dog and a cat, both very friendly.
