About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Looking for new adventures

ABOUT ME

I first had an interest in traveling after I got out of the army. I first set out to discover America by thru hiking the Appalachian Trail and cycling across the US. After other travels in Europe and NZ I knew I would have to feed my addiction and travel the world.

I didn't believe traveling the beaten path or backpacking in touristy areas would be very enlightening, so I decided a long distance cycling trip would be most suitable. It would provide a greater challenge and put me in better touch with local people, culture, and traditions. Traveling was not just about going to fascinating destinations but hopefully meeting awesome people along the way.

Of course it had its up and downs (got ran over by an SUV in China and broke my femur) but everything was worth it. I found the people in Pakistan and Iraq were as hospitable and kind as those as home. I discovered an Africa that didn’t seem much more dangerous than Canada. Countries like Kyrgyzstan, which most people never heard of, were fascinating. I also realized it is more interesting to live outside of my own country

I financed some of my travels through commercial fishing in Alaska which was an experience in itself. 3 times was enough of that.

I'm back living in China because I think it is more interesting then living in the US. I just moved to Chengdu after being in Zhuhai for a couple years.

I'm over teaching for the most part so I started selling pizzas and other American food in the last year. Either way I hope to have a great time, meet some cool people and explore this part of China more.

Love going out and exploring the world and meeting new people. Love making food and having small parties, hiking, motorcycling and cycling and being spontaneous.

I've spent a spent years traveling and now looking for whats next.

PHILOSOPHY

I understand there's problems in the world but I won't let this stop me from having a good time. Keeping active is important and fulfilling your dreams are important.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to several gathering and events and hosted bike trips, barbecues or pizza parties and other activities etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used couchsurfing in Asia, the Middle east and a little in Africa and S. America. Many times I just meet up with people and if we're friends then I might stay with them. I've finally been able to host a bit in Taiwan now.

Interests

I enjoy people the most which is why I travel. When you live in the same town you hang out with the same people and it can get boring. If your traveling your always challenged with new people whether you like it or not. I have to admit most people aren't going to be amazing but one in a while you get diamond.
