About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Finding 42 different answers to life, the universe and everything.

ABOUT ME
Currently in grad school in Japan, trying to figure out some things about the world and society in general. Despite being a social scientist, I'm actually quite shy and awkward.

PHILOSOPHY

I live to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to travel around Europe every now and then, invading people's couches. These days I host during the semester and travel during the holidays =)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined Couchsurfing some years ago when I started surfing people's couches. Afterwards I got my own place and started hosting. These days I am not that active, unfortunately.

Interests

I like to read and take long walks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dan Rhodes, Joey Comeau, Erich Maria Remarque, Heinrich Boell, The Dark Tower, Toni Morrison, Paul Auster, Bogdan Suceava, Cezar Paul Badescu, Ernesto Sabato, Lucian Dan Teodorovici, Helen Oyeyemi.

Streetlight Manifesto, NOFX, Anti-Flag, Rancid, Die Toten Hosen, Dropkick Murphys, Morphine, 9mm Parabellum Bullet, Sakanaction, ゲスの極み乙女, and anything that would have a good mosphit live.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was young, big bands didn't use to come to Romania, so I would save up and go see them around Europe, one by one. It was my main incentive for travelling, and by now I can say that I've seen most of my favourites at least once, though at 15 it was just a dream. This is quite dull by Westerner standards, though :P

Some of my most fond memories are these random unexpected moments when the world seems quite right for a few seconds, but they are difficult to describe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have managed to pick up the most random of trivia over the years, and since I'm quite a chatterbox I will probably end up sharing them ^^'.

I love learning about people's own experiences and their culture. One thing I noticed upon leaving my country is how the smallest details can be unique to one's experience, and the more you exchange impressions the more you realise how your own view is influenced by external influences.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, Romania
