About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am traveling the world to host art workshops with children. The project is called Hearts of the World.

ABOUT ME

I am on a mission to host art workshops with children from around the world. The project I have started is called hearts of the world.

If one believes, as the great French poet Charles Baudelaire claims, “Genius is no more than childhood recaptured at will,” then we have an obligation to provide our children with an authentic childhood. A childhood that allows time and opportunity— away from the stresses of school, poverty, politics and the other troubles of the adult world— to live in the world of art and imagination- to lay the foundation of genius.

Hearts of the World is an ongoing collaborative art project involving people from all over the globe. The project launched with L.E.S. Girls Club and will continue with grass roots organizations, schools and hospitals around the world. Each child is given a panel with an outline of an anatomical heart and are encouraged to fill it in with whatever they feel is inside their own -- with things that they love, their passions and dreams for life. . Participants will work with me, and be encouraged to articulate their innermost feelings when filling in their paintings, using content, form and color to reflect their culture as well as their own unique vision. Eco-friendly materials will always be used and all of the hearts will come together to create a large multi-paneled piece, which will be displayed in public locations world wide.

About me:
I am something a bit different, wildly creative, deeply imaginative and friendly too! :) I am an artist, I live in NYC and spend my time making public art around the city. I think art makes a difference and brightens people's lives. I think it should be everywhere. I believe in the good in people. I want to connect with real, true, soulful people all around the globe. I want to create new experiences and live life to the fullest. I am all about peace, love and creating art.

PHILOSOPHY

I belive in living in the moment. I cherish deep connections with people. I believe in God... I havent the first clue about how to define Him/Her/It... I think God is bigger than religions and bigger than our understanding... I am just trying to find pieces to add to the puzzle.

Music, Movies, and Books

so many, i must update this later. I'm reading Shantaram at the moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stayed the night alone in the palace at the Mayan ruins in Palenque Mexico by hiding out in the jungle until the park closed and then sneaking back in. I slept (actually I didn't sleep a wink) in the courtyard of the Palace where the Mayans held all of their ceremonies. It was wild.

Teach, Learn, Share

My yoga teacher once told me a metaphor about God...

Imagine God as an elephant and the religions of the world as people standing around the elephant blindfolded.

One feels the elephants ear, and proclaims "an elephant is flat and smooth, like a banana leaf!"

Another feels the elephant's tail and says: "No, an elephant is long and thin, like a rope!"

Another examines the elephant's leg and argues: "No, an elephant is thick and rough and round like a tree trunk!

and then they all fight over what IS an elephant.

God is too vast for us to fully comprehend. :)
