About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To fully embrace Korean Culture, and try not to impart my Texas accent on thier children!

ABOUT ME

I live in Seoul and I have been in Korea since 2008. Korea is my adoptive home (I adopted it, I myself am not an adoptee) I teach in a high school teaching English here, and I love it. I also study Korean for a least 4 hours every week, so sometimes I am busy.

I like to spend my time drinking, eating and talking. If you choose to stay with me I will do my best to show you some good places to eat and drink and I will do my best to show you around Seoul and show you all that it has to offer, and if you are going to go around Korea. I can offer a lot of advice on this wonderful country!

PHILOSOPHY

"Let's be friends"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy hosting (I prefer over 5 days because I am busy sometimes and I would like to get to know you rather than just have you pass through my life)

I enjoy surfing (but lately I haven't done much travelling)

I organize meeting and attend meetings here in Seoul and where ever I happen to be. It helps the community stay safe and thrive!!!

I advocate CS to cool people I meet who don't know about it.

I donate (because it takes money to keep this wonderful website going!!!)

In short I am really happy to have made CS a part of my life and I try to give back in ways that help build the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with Codie in Albuquerque, NM For two days. It was my first experience and it was Awesome! She showed me around, a little, and I was off to exploring. Very nice.
I've met some other folk around Colorado just for hang out time, and to get to know them and the area. They have been so nice and hospitable, and I am looking forward to more exiciting experiences.

Man at this point, two months into my CS experience I have too many great things to list. I just want to say that CS2 has treated me really kindly, and that I look forward to settling down so that I can return all of the favors and then some!

The road trip turned out lasting over 130 days, and I can proudly say that I only paid for hostel beds 4 of those days! CS kept me busy, and not for one single day was I lonely or home-sick...perhaps the best part of CS is making friends, and having someone to talk to.

Some of my favorite stories are:
Naked Hiking in Vermont

Being treated like a Rock Star in Fargo

A grueling 12-mile, 9 hour, death hike in New Hampshire followed by an amazing meal and sleeping in a Yurt!

Hiking through a torrential rain storm in Glacier Nat'l Park, Montana

Dancing like a mad-man at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and learning French

And picking up a Ride-Share in Portland and driving five days to Denver. Picking onions and turnips from the fields, stumbling on a Basque Festival in Boise, ID; and seeing over 30 shooting stars while camping in the Utah Desert.

While living with my parents in New Braunfels, TX. I hosted a series of CS potlucks designed to unite the Austin and San Antonio communities. The largest having almost 50 participants I think they accomplished that goal.

Now I live in Seoul and I have had more experiences than I can name in one sitting. So in short I love CS!

Interests

I love history.
I love stories.
I love nature.
I love drinking.
I love eating.
I love good conversations about anything at all, and especially about nothing in particular.
