About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be anything but mundane.

ABOUT ME
I am originally from the east coast but I'm currently transitioning to the Austin lifestyle after traipsing around the west coast for a bit :) and a three year stint in the crazy hustle bustle nonsense of NYC. I'm a tea drinking, Portuguese speaking lefty with a driving impulse to travel and to create (knit, sew, cook, letter, paint, diy and on and on and on)

PHILOSOPHY

I try to remind myself to "Keep [my] heart free from hate; [my] mind from worry; Live simply; Expect little; Give MUCH." though its definitely easier said than done.

"Wrestling with the same old themes of LOVE, FREEDOM & FEAR."

"Sometimes I believe in fate, but the chances we create, always seem to ring more true."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted a ton and traveled a bunch both domestically and abroad but lately
I've been MIA. Time, the NYC pace as well as all of the moving got the best of me but I'm trying to recapture the vigor I had my first few years of surfing/hosting because it was truly a life changing experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Changes too often, too open ended.

Television: Fringe is probably my all time fav.

Music: Also all over the place but here are a few usually in rotation... Bruce Springsteen, Ed Sheeran, John Powell scores, The Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons, Regina Spektor, Ryan Adams, Patty Griffin, Gypsy kings, Old Crow Medicine Show, Mafalda Veiga, Os Delfins, Johnny Cash

Books: Thunderstruck, Undress me in the temple of Heaven, The New Earth, The Glass Castle, Flow: the psychology of optimal experience, Devil in a White City, the Weather Makers - "It is INCONCEIVABLE that humankind, with all its noble achievements, its aspirations and goodwill, will stay indifferent to the cry of the climate community. But most important of all is the fact that we must, imperatively, change our attitudes and agree to live modestly and realistically—all for the sake of the future—which is not ours but which we have borrowed from future generations."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Crossed a shimmering bioluminescent bay at nightfall in Vieques, PR in a transparent canoe experiencing all its glittery glory! One of the most spectacular natural phenomenons I've ever seen!
