ABOUT ME

A wondering wanderer. Originally from Israel, with many years spent in the US, Canada and Hong Kong. The last few years I spent back in Israel with no specific residence, except for a few short periods. I lay out my sleeping bag and crash in a different place in nature every night, and then pack it up again in the morning and continue my travels.

I'm a deck officer in the merchant fleet, which means I can drive large ships. It's an amazing adventure, but difficult for me to do on an ongoing basis since it involves long periods of isolation. I'm much more into smaller wind-powered sailboats and yachts - a fun and environmentally-friendly way to see the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's an amazing project and a great way to meet travelers in your home country and locals when you travel. Getting information from a travel guide is useful, but it's nothing like meeting someone who knows the real ins-and-outs of a location and can show you places out of the way which are rarely found in guides.

Interests

I prefer a sleeping bag on the ground than a suite at the Hilton. I want to spend most of my time in nature, but also want to balance that with the culture and nightlife that a city has to offer.

I'm a big fan of water sports. Other than sailing, I also SCUBA, windsurf, kayak, and anything else I can find on or in the water.
