About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live every moment in the moment.

ABOUT ME

I love ancient history, philosophy and literature. It's what I study, ancient philosophy through ancient texts. Their mythology always captures my imagination. I also love art, any kind of art, but especially modern paintings, and I don't mind doing the odd piece myself. I'm also a huge fan of the theater. Tragedy is what I enjoy the most. Although I don't travel much, I am deeply interested in different people's points of view. This is why I study philosophy. Another passion of mine is learning languages, especially dead ones. I've learned a little Latin and lot of ancient Greek.

PHILOSOPHY

I grew up a Buddhist and this has been a big influence in my life. I like to try and live in the present moment. This means not worrying about the past or the future. Just being, as much as possible, in this very moment. It's not always easy to do this, but I try. I also try and live a life of non-violence. This has lead me to become a vegan but I also try and avoid any kind of conflict or negativity in all situations. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I spent a year in Berlin on exchange and during that period I did some back packing. I stayed with some truly amazing people all over Europe. When I got back to Berlin my boyfriend and I happily hosted other travelers, who were all great and so friendly. I think couch surfing is amazing and I recommend it to all my friends now.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couchsurfing experiences have been amazing, to say the very least. I have not had one bad experience at all. Everyone who has hosted me has been so welcoming. They've given me truly unique and authentic experiences of their homes. I recommend surfing to everyone I know these days.I have also had the pleasure of hosting a few people in Berlin. While this isn't my home town, I found it wonderfully fulfilling. Meeting new people is great and the people who surf and host in my experience have been particularly open, honest and trusting people.

Interests

Movies: Apocalypse Now, Kill Bill, Serenity, Citizen Cane, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Matrix, Bad Education, Battle Royal... so many more.

Reading: Heart of Darkness, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Great Gatsby, Harry Potter, Lord of the Flies, Catcher in the Rye, the Odyssey and the Iliad, Death of a Salesman... again so so many more.

Painting: I like doing acrylic work myself but am interested in anything.

Music: Nothing to heavy, usually just relaxed stuff.

Travel: Australia is far, far away, so while I'm here in Europe I want to see as much as possible.

New people: is there anything more interesting?

I spent time with some really amazing people (who I found through couch surfing). It was also so wonderful to see so many things that I had been learning about and studying in my Classics degree.
