About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Training for educating about health and wellness online

ABOUT ME

Currently live north of Hamilton, NZ.

I Lived in 3 corners of the US (New England, Northern California, and Texas), lived for a shorter period of time in Quebec, Mexico, & Belize, and have traveled through probably 35+ of the states in the US. Had a very interesting week in India and 2 great weeks in Kauai. Spent a month in 2008 traveling all over NZ (15 cities in 30 days, drove 4500 km over both islands). Now I've lived in NZ for over 4.5 years.

Who am I? Well that's a question for the ages. People generally have this impression of me: helpful, very intelligent, sharp, quick wit, kind, serious with a smile, committed, determined, big thinker, eclectic, aware.

Favorite books include: "The Four Hour WorkWeek" by Tim Ferriss. "Loving What is" By Byron Katie. "The Power of Less" by Leo Babauta. "Freakononomics" & "Super-Freakonomics" by Stephen Levitt. "Zen to Done" by Leo Babauta.

My professional page is at www.TenPointWellness.com/about

PHILOSOPHY

I have friends from all walks of life, religions, skin colors, countries, etc. Anyone who can't laugh at their themselves is in too deep and needs to lighten up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Seeking community of well-traveled, service-oriented folk (e.g. CS project basis of helping others) here in Wellington and surrounding areas.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Got some good resources while traveling through in 2008, stayed at once place in the South Island which turned out to be not the ideal hosting situation, but that is the luck of the draw I suppose. I liked the community aspect and that people are out there to help one another.

Interests

Health, The Four Hour WorkWeek (if you don't know what that is, it's awesome), hiking, exercise, nutrition, philosophy, yoga, chiropractic, outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, swimming, humor, acupuncture, neurology, and other geeky topics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite restaurant: Prefer to make my own food from fresh ingredients from farmer's market. If you had to twist my arm, I'd say Cafe Versailles on Grey St in Tauranga. They have the best French Food in the world there. (They won best French Female Chef of the Year in France one year).

Favorite destination: Somewhere in the woods, hiking.

Place I wish to travel to: Tibet and Bali (more)

Favorite food: anything fresh, organic, homemade, with love

Favorite books: See above.

Favorite TV: Rarely watch TV, but if did: Daily Show or Colbert Report.

Movies: (They all have a common theme...ask me later).
1. Groundhog Day
2. Peaceful Warrior
3. Legend of Bagger Vance
4. Brick (This one isn't in that theme, it's just a really good, original film/detective novel).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Was at the Australian Zoo and got to pet a live tiger. You wouldn't believe how soft it's fur is. As I was petting the tiger, I noticed it's L1 vertebra was out. My girlfriend (who was petting the upper spine of the tiger) said, "Sam, please do not poke at a misplaced vertebra of a tiger while I'm petting near it's head".

Teach, Learn, Share

Health, nutrition, lifestyle, and physiology are my professional interests, but I read (or listen to) tons of books so there are many other items to share.
