About Me

I particularly like:

Ending up in strange situations and most generally any unpredictable event in the course of my life.

Filling my mind with new visuals universes whether it is movies, photographs, expressions on people's faces, urban or natural landscapes and filling my ears with new words, melodies, lyrics and people's stories.

Getting the feeling that people trust me enough to share some moments of their life and their raw emotions without wearing any masks.

Surreal landscapes and their silence.

Hearing a tune that I really like in an unexpected place or bumping into someone I know in the most remote corner of the world.

Being immersed and being part of as many social experiences as possible to learn more about myself and the way people build up relations and create different social worlds in a given situation.

Any form of resistance and desires of change.

Looking up for new words and expressions in English ( which is not my first language)

Starting a new life from scratch in different countries/cities.

Exploring the light and the different aspects it takes through the medium of photography.

High contrast, grainy, blurry black and white photographs shot from odd angles.

Disorientating music.

Furious stroke of pen/ brushwork, and distorted human figures in paintings/drawings.

Cycling in the fog in the city.

Encountering urban foxes late at night.

Befriending cats

Simple things like the smell of the ocean or coffee, winter morning light, hearing the rain falling on plastic, metal, glass surfaces, staring at embers, the sound of stormy weather, my plants growing bigger.

Silence.

I really don't like:

Any discourses that lead to the essentialization and legitimation of hierarchisation and inequalities.

Borders and nationalism.

Feeling that I am forced to smile, forced to laugh, forced to satisfy other people's expectations, forced to stick to absurd conventions and forced to become the person other people expect me to be.

Getting stuck in a routine of life. I constantly have to meet new people and discover new places.

The commercialization and policing of every aspects of our everyday life ( including happiness)

When people turn the tv on to avoid having to talk to each other.

Any kind of abuse of power ( whether it is institutionalized or incorporated in our everyday interactions ). I find it really hard to cope with people who are thrilled by competition and dynamics of dominance.

Tracy Amin and any phony so called "subversive " art

Shopping/Fashion/ Trendy places and junk food
