About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See what's going on and tell other people about it

ABOUT ME

I think I'm an open and enthusiastic person with much curiosity in all kind of things. I like having a beer, enjoying nice food and spending time with people.

PHILOSOPHY

Let's talk about this! Generally after a beer and with some interesting company, my personal philosophies start to become more clear :-).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started Couchsurfing in 2008. I surfed during my travels in the Balkan countries, Iceland, Georgia, Slovakia, Romania and Belgium. The last three years I also surfed together with my girlfriend. I loved CS from the very first minute. In my view it's not a way to stay somewhere (for free), it's mainly a way to meet people, make friends and discover the life beyond what you see. Being a couchsurfer means to me being a different type of traveler: instead of just being a tourist that passes by, you try to understand the local culture and habits. I learned a lot of my CS experiences and from the people I met.

Interests

Music (classical and jazz) and sports (mainly soccer) and almost anything, as I used to be a journalist :-).

Music, Movies, and Books

J.S. Bach is the all time best composer, no discussion about that :-). I love baroque music. I play the organ and love to play Bach as well, but it's quite hard :-).
I like arthouse movies a lot. Some of my favourites: Into the wild, Amelie, Das leben der anderen, Anche libero va bene.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't mention really amazing stuff, but I definitely have nice traveling experiences, like my three months-trip around the Balkans in 2008. Together with my girlfriend I made some very cool hikes, f.e. to peak Bobotov Kuk (2522 m, Montenegro), Omu peak (2507 m, Romania) and peak Pip Ivan (2028 m, Ukraine).

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Netherlands
