About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sailing, cycling and spreading love :)

ABOUT ME

This summer has been the most fulfilling summer ever. I've quit all my jobs and started refurbishing sailboats and racing some with professional racers, so basically 4 days out of 7 I'm out there on the lake. All other days I'm mostly coated in epoxy primer, oils, lubes and similar non-girly substances.

I'm trying to get my shit together so that I can finally get my own fix-her-up kind of sailboat, live there all year round, and sail her away to all the beautiful remote places. That's my own ultimate interpretation of the concept "settle down" :)

They say I'm a radiant person. And I like living in strange spaces, like caves, sailboats, abandoned factories... Or in an old tenement house with a long shady corridor that most people run away from screaming WTF was THAT??!

I'm the girl you saw dancing in a different beat than any song, in that weirdo squat party. Ye the one with funny animals in her hair :)

“I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”

PHILOSOPHY

I am a fat paw, a furry tail, and blueberry whiskers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm quite a shy person at first, so although I've been on CS for quite a while now, I didn't dare to host anyone or trust the hospitality of others, until I started hosting a couple of CS folks in Switzerland: two girls from Russia and Germany, and a guy from Brazil, and it felt just the right thing to do! So now that I'm on a little world trip, I'm trying to get more courageous and start experiencing what it is like to get to know random people and earn their trust :) So far it's been definitely great, but as I'm often a little bit squirrely, it may take some time for me to open up... I hope that's not a problem for anyone ^^

Interests

fairy tales, swamps, sailing and fixing old sailboats, wild camping (winter and fall are the best times ever!), intergalactic explorations, cats, fixing old bicycles, games (esp. those little indie ones ), creepy cute little animals, retrofuturism, my dreams (those night-time ones), masks, smiles, puppets, meteor showers, pianos that are out of tune, writing diaries, little lights, ferrets, colors, vast fields with sunflowers in bloom, in-house roller-coasters with millions of tiny twinkling lights, weird dolls (Scott Radke <3), those surreal nights in the cities you only had dreams of before, cycling through heavy snow storms or torrential rains, long afternoon naps, knitting and sewing, wild fat cats that bite you or attack on the street, creative forms of recycling, sketching and drawing, photography (nature and erotic), street art, history of lost civilisations and Earth, anything that smells old and rusty (abandoned factories and weird labyrinths in the dark basements, spooky shit!), gardening and foraging, baking pies from scratch from wild berries, power tools.

Music, Movies, and Books

with movies, I adore the worlds of Dave McKean, Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, Jiri Barta, Quay brothers, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Jan Svankmajer alike, but I'm also all over the map with stuff like Kaiba, Cat Soup, Fight Club, 8 1/2, Dark Crystal, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Price Of Milk, Before sunrise, 25th Hour, Star Wars, Haxan.. oh and many more!

Most things written/drawn by Elian Black'Mor, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Jim Woodring, Astrid Lindgren, Douglas Adams, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Jack London, Juan Rulfo, Lev N Tolstoy, and William Gibson rock my world!

Got a heavy crush on animation (esp. stop motion and anything hand-made is just amazing), and graphic novels (Jhonen Vasquez is probably an extreme example, but I love that guy).

I used to write and photo-shoot for online culture magazine about music and albums and concerts a lot, mainly indie stuff, like Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Sigur Ros, Broken Social Scene, Xiu Xiu, but nowadays sometimes also into gothic rock, shoegaze, and especially the sounds from the 60s-70s. Stuff like Autechre, Burial, Kraftwerk, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Smashing Pumpkins, Sisters of Mercy, Venetian Snares, The Smiths, George Harrison, Marissa Nadler is constantly in my player. Oh, and yes, Hannah Fury <3

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I washed my hair with scrambled eggs ^__^

if that doesnt sound ambitious enough for you... here's a longer story that changed the way I look at life and stress and difficulties... I once found myself racing friend's sailboat in a very windy and rainy weather, the gusts were almost knocking the boat over and we were getting sprayed with cold water every second, so no waterproof clothing helped. I was doing lots of rope pulling so I ended up with rope burnt fingers, and bruises all over my body from jumping all around the boat as we were fighting the wind. Andthen suddenly a gust so strong came by that it shred our sail, we had to quickly take it down and hoist another one. Everyone was so miserable, soaked, cold, and tired and we still had to go on racing the boat, like ththere's no tomorrow. That night I learned so much about myself and I realised that all the stress I had up to that day were nothing, they were all little challenges, little obstacles. I never quite felt such a powerful moment before, fighting with the nature and wind, losing it all for a moment only to rise up again, even if I was shivering and tears were rolling down my face!

Now I know...it's not about things that happen to you, but how you choose to accept them. Events in your life can either make you stronger or knock you down. Your choice!
