PHILOSOPHY

Well, I feel like the world has an energy and a cycle and events happen for a reason. We cross each other's paths for a purpose and everything has the potential to teach us and make us stronger human beings. All things on this planet have an equal value and worth and we are here to take care of each other. Our actions have intense repercussions and everyday is a new opportunity to make the best of our lives. Have fun, be open, be kind and hopefully it will just flow nicely. Love, love a lot ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

IF I WAS A MILLIONAIRE AND COULD STAY IN 5 STAR HOTELS, I WOULD STILL COUCH SURF.

This season I am taking my mom on a 45 day trip in honor of her 60th year. I would like to expose her to couch surfing because it has been such a great way to see more about a country than just the touristy stuff and get to know people. I have always felt very safe and I would like her to experience it. I am really proud she is willing to couch surf with me!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurfed through europe and had the most AMAZING experience. Unfortunately, I can't host right now but I can't wait to t have y own place again. I have had great experiences being a host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love this system, I have met some great, generous people from all over. I am amazed by everyone's hospitality and instant friendship. I do recommend planning in advance, a friend and I spent a few hours sleeping in a park on one occasion and some stressful hours in cybercafes trying to track someone to host us, BUT someone always came through, on a three week vacation I only spent 3 nights in hostels, and two were only because I got really sick and didn't want to infect any kind couchsurfing hosts!!

Interests

Dancing, salsa, forro, merengue, cumbias, sewing and fabrics. I love playing with paint, the beach, walking, sun, birds, cycling, running, swimming. Languages! Living healthy, food justice, sustainable ag, global politics, world cultures, latin america, africa.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read, I love fiction. Anything by Isabel Allende is awesome. Octavia Butler. I am drawn to female authors and strong heroines.

Read The Fate of Africa before going.

I cannot live without music, for sure, but I hate to make a hobby out of it and spit names like its a competition. I love when people can expose me to new stuff. Pandora has ruined me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whitewater rafting in Itacare, Bahia, rates high. Goats tied to the top of cars during Tabaski was weird. You know, I never thought I would be working in Senegal...amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to exchange language and am happy to help anyone out with their English, Spanish or Portuguese, hopefully in exchange for some Italian and French. I am currently a full time student pursuing a certificate in American Sign Language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to share my family recipes and love to cook for people so a meal or two is guaranteed! Mexican food, or variations depending on the ingredients available, is arguably one of the best cuisines!

I also have fun having conversations about the world, languages and the environment. I would love to share more about Los Angeles and we can always do a language exchange!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Cuba, Dominican Republic, France, Mexico, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
