About Me

I grew up in central Scotland and studied environmental chemistry in Edinburgh. A few years ago I realised that journalism would be the perfect profession for me, and I'm now working hard towards making that happen.

I enjoy cooking and having dinner together with a few friends and a bottle of wine. I love playing music together with anyone else who wants to. I dance tango and go to milongas fairly often. Sometimes I go to bars and listen to jazz or live music.

When I go to new places I like to wander around them, I'm not in a rush to see everything and I prefer to just enjoy my time. I also often try out the local tango scene.

I'm vegetarian and also have coeliac disease so can't eat gluten.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Not to get too into it, but I think community builders like Couchsurfing are super important in changing the way we live and consume, which is in turn vital to reaching a society that is living within its ecological limits (let's talk about it more in person...)

I hosted a few times in my flats in Edinburgh and Helsinki, but more recently haven't been able to host. I also used to run a weekly writing group for Couchsurfers in Paris.

Interests

journalism, environmental issues and science and solutions, walks in the city, biking, literature, history, writing, tango, music (esp folk and jazz), politics, languages (French, Spanish), anything to do with Latin America, education, Wwoofing, tortoises...

I like to discuss the predicaments and possible solutions of the crazy situation we're in with regards to the environment, consumerism, extremism and lazy-ism etc, because ultimately I want make an impact in improving things and want to know how.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I co-developed and wrote a bunch of articles for this website:

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm learning acoustic guitar at the moment and am really into it, so anyone with some guitar knowledge could help me a lot! Oh, and I always like to practice Spanish and French when I have the opportunity...

I could teach some basics of tango, or help you with your tango technique if you already dance a bit. I could also probably take you out to a milonga, there's usually one around in most cities! I could also help with classical piano. And I'm always happy to help out with spoken English, I don't mind correcting it if someone wants me to and like discussing the subtleties of language.
