About Me

CURRENT MISSION

leaving what I know to find what I don't

ABOUT ME

I like things that sparkle especially eyes, night walking through the city, smells that bring back memories, queer theory, sunday papers, roller coasters, music that makes me smile, music that makes me cry, city breaks to random places, spontaneity, riding on a motorbike through the city, folk tag radio, cooking for my friends, surprising people, waking up with someone you love, travel guides, scrabble sundays, vegetarianism, the colours of the greengrocers, reading the paper or a good book in a cafe with a cake, staring out to sea, being dressed up, hugs, books you can't put down, crosswords, moments when you feel like you're in a film, eating out, long summer evenings, festivals, cushions, random acts of kindness, planning things, Barcelona, big cookies, losing myself and finding something new, dancing to rockabilly, dancing like a fool, bubbles, getting the giggles, dreaming and road trips.

I don't like wilfull ignorance, apathy, being stuck in traffic, small-mindedness, injustice, meanness or misogyny.

I don't know what I want, but the list of what I don't is growing every day.

If I won the lottery I would open a retreat centre or a guest house and before that I'd travel the globe searching for the perfect location. I wrote that last sentence a whle ago and, although I'm not sure if the retreat centre is still my dream, I am about to travel the world on an adventure into something I don't yet know. I'm going with my boyfriend Steve who you can see in my friends list. We hope to see you there!

PHILOSOPHY

So long as you don't hurt others, do whatever it is that makes you happy. Don't put things off. And when things are bad, get on with it - there's no other option.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed, hosted, coffeed and drinked, and been to many CS meets - all sorts. I'm a big fan of couchsurfing as you can see from this article: http://ohcomely.co.uk/archive-article.php?id=335

Also soon to start a blog: diaryofacouchsurfer.me

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent a couple of months in the summer of 2008 traveling around Spain and did a bit of couch surfing and meeting for drinks along the way. It made my trip - I met some of the best people I've ever known and had some truly beautiful times. I even moved to Barcelona for a bit in 2009 to live with some couchsurfing friends.
Back in London, I've hosted for the last few years in shared houses and now with my boyfriend Steve. We've couchsurfed on short trips around Europe and are now about to set off on a worldwide adventure, hoping to meet many surfers along the way.

Interests

So many things, but I'm frustrated by the inability to know something well unless you make it your specialism at the expense of something else. So mostly I know just bits and pieces and haven't yet found my passion. So I rely on others who do know to tell me and I love that. Perhaps my passion is people: how they live, how they are happy, what they see.
