We are a couple, Kim and Fox, who live in the hills of western North Carolina with our baby, Weaver. We like connecting with people in authentic ways, sharing stories and sharing food and drink. We are interested in things homemade and handmade and love learning new skills in making things with our hands. Kim is an artist who has been tattooing on her own for five years and Fox has a gift for connecting with music and making up songs. We are on this wild journey of being new parents and are smitten with our little one.

We live in a beautiful place and we want to share it with others! We also are a little isolated out here, so we are excited to "travel" by meeting travelers and exchanging stories, laughs, and experiences!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

After I (Kim) finished college, I traveled for a year and couchsurfed all over. I couldn't have done it any other way. Couchsurfing gave me a way to feel a little less like a tourist, to connect to real people actually living in the place I was visiting. I made many special connections and friendships that I still hold dear.

Years later, I was a couchsurfing host while living in New Orleans, and I liked being on the other side of the exchange. It felt like a way to give back for all of the kindness and care I was shown while traveling.

Now, Fox and I are on couchsurfing because we want to meet people from all over the world and to share this with our daughter.

Intereses

Fox and I both love learning about other cultures and hearing and sharing stories. He's very interested in permaculture and animal husbandry. I'm an artist and am currently looking into earth-based art materials. I'm interested also in emotions, psychology, and vulnerable and authentic expressions. We are very curious right now about different approaches to "education" for children. We are both into astrology. But really, we are curious about Life in general and anything that anyone else is passionate about!

Música, películas y libros

We listen to all kinds of music. Fox is listening to a lot of hip-hop these days, especially new stuff out of Chicago. I like it too. Some of my all-time favorite musicians are: Arcade Fire, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, Ali Farka Touré. We are really interested in folk music from all over the world, and currently I'm looking into Lithuanian folk music because we're hoping to travel to Lithuania next year.

We live in a really cool place. There is a craft school just down the road and many sweet neighbors who are doing interested things, from weaving to building to furniture-making to farming. We like to share the magic of where we live with others. The land can be very restorative here, especially if you have been in cities for a while. We like to take people to the river. We also like to share meals and talk with others, take walks, and we also really respect the need for space to just be.
