About Me

CURRENT MISSION

helping to create liveable cities and sustainable country towns

ABOUT ME

Like most couchsurfers, I love travelling, especially meeting new people from around the world. I'm pretty easy going and try to get outdoors as much as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

You can learn something profound from every person you meet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to a couple of couchsurfing parties. Have surfed and hosted. I once met a couchsurfer for drinks once in my hometown and ended up travelling together to my parents' farm. I tell everyone I know about the project and have found some new converts...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the days before couchsurfing.com, the most interesting was Finland. What ever possesed me to visit the Arctic circle in December? Had an excellent time though. Can't wait to get back, maybe at a time of year when the days are longer than 3 hours.

I went couchsurfing through Ireland and met the most awesome people. Also NZ. You can get so much more out of a trip when you stay with locals. Backpackers hostels are great, but I definitely have a threshold.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen: A lunar eclipse from a train. I didn't know it was going to happen. Neither did most of the other people on the train. Not everyone was impressed I woke them up though

Done: Volunteer English teaching in remote Thai villages.

Teach, Learn, Share

Liveable Cities! What makes some cities just work and the citizens have a great quality of life? How do you minimise things like road rage and people spending half their day commuting? How do you make it easier for people to meet up easily for different interests? How do you create or improve the sense of community?

Countries I’ve Visited

Finland, Ireland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, France, Thailand, United Kingdom
