About Me

I love traveling, and meeting new people. Currently I live in a middle of nowhere(or so I see it) in Northern Alberta, working as an engineer for Canadian government. Originally, I am Russian, and was born and raised in Saint-Petersburg. My Canadian identity is Montreal. In past 9 years I've lived all over North America, and plan to move at list one more time.

Did I mention I like traveling? I also enjoy hiking, camping, beer, food (more of an eater here), kayaking, foraging, museums, classical music, architecture, theater, "heavy" music, and many other things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined 10 year ago, and used it quite a bit. I offered my home to few, and occupied few strange couches myself. Had many interesting discussions and walks, made some friends. I think this is really one of the best ways to experience local culture.

Interests

I love traveling, hiking, meeting new people, enjoy beer with friends and even strangers, I'd love some good tea. Would be more than happy to visit a museum, art show, concert, theater. Outdoorsy activities are also right up my alley.

Music, Movies, and Books

Generally, I'm on a heavier side for music. I love NIN, Einstürzende Neubauten, and enjoy Nick Cave, Queen, Iggy, and all the other classics of the genre. Will not miss an opportunity to attend a live classical music concert.
I like artsy movies, and I have many favorites. I am also a big fan of anime.
I love reading, being fluent in Russian is very handy for reading Russian Classics. Occasionally I enjoy western novels. However, currently I read more tech notes than fiction, unfortunately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I have to say that making your own human trumps everything else :O)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hm... I wont teach You Russian swear words. If you really insist I can show you how to peel boiled eggs in a funny way. In general, I could be an interesting conversationalist if found in a right time and place.
