About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keeping up with friends around the world and getting gas money.

ABOUT ME

Help I'm a 30 year old trapped in a 60 year old body! Europe is my playground. I have hosted 7 foreign exchange students and befriended many more. I was a couch surfer before I could spell it. I live on a farmstead that my great Grandfather bought in 1919 for my Grandfather and his new family. My Dad was 4 years old at the time. My Significant Other of 10 year died in 99, Lorie was my best friend and my biggest encourager! I've been to Europe as many as 4 times a year, and even now try to go once each year. Have been to Turkey as a newsman with the Air Force, Israel as a guest of a peace group during which we got handed off to the Palestinians for a couple of those days. I have strong opinions on religion/politics/ world events and fishing lures. I'm willing to fight for peace if that makes any sense. My home is open to all backgrounds, and histories as long as the discussion is kind and considerate!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe religion should be INCLUSIVE not EXCLUSIVE. Practicing Lutheran of the Liberal lineage. Conservative Democrat. A bit of the "live and let live" from the movie Cabaret. My biggest problem is, when someone says, "hey tell me about your religious beliefs!" They usually mean, "let ME tell you about MINE!" HMMMM

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've CS'd in Berlin countless times, Nuremburg, Freilassing, Sontheim, Homberg, Hamburg, Erfurt, Dusseldorf, Koln, can you tell I like Germany? I've lived in Canada(5 years), S. Cal/Vegas(10), Tennessee(4), and a short stop in MSP (Brown University). And had CS'rs from all over the globe at my place. In the old days even hitchhikers sometimes stayed for up to a week, but times they are a changin'!

Interests

Cooking, wine, conversation, friends, travel, growing herbs (not that kind!) Of course technology as it's my career and how I can pay for all my fun. Card games-not interested. TV I follow... 2 1/2 men, Big Bang Theory, 24.

Music, Movies, and Books

WOW Just way to complex. From Torch songs to line dancing country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done lots of traveling. Hosted 7 Foreign Exchange Students (6 from Germany, 1 from Thailand)and made friends with a lot more! So I got couches all over a large part of Europe and a little of Asia and SA to stay at. But because of career, stuck here way to much. I had the good fortune of going to Israel as a guest of the Israeli Gov, and got handed off to the Palestinians for 2 days. That was probably the most amazing experience of my life. Also been on a "swapout" with the Air Force. Tanker from Grand Forks Air Force Base, to England and on to Turkey and back. WHAT A TRIP!
