Se vc cultiva na sua vida medo, vergonha, consumismo, machismo ou racismo provavelmente não vai gostar de mim! Se vc reconhece essas coisas na sua vida e quer se desfazer delas, estamos junt@s :)

Profiles are like advertizing. I am not a product, you can't buy me anywhere. At the same time I value the internet as a source of awesomeness so I will tell you what I know about myself in the spirit of trust, openness and curiosity.

Maybe I became who I am today because I really like learning things and meeting people. Movement inspires me to do these things so I have been to quite a few places and always try to return; I guess you could say I have been nomadic for many years, living in different countries and continents for a few months at a time, finding more and more homes to return to eventually.
I want to be honest, open, friendly, a positive influence and contribute what I think and feel.
I value loyalty and honesty and actively seek conditions conducive to my well-being, physically as much as mentally. The lightness of being is very important to me and I like to joke and laugh. So that is bound to be one of the first things you'll notice when we meet: I will smile and look directly into your eyes; unless it's an East Asian (grand)father, then I will bow. Social codes, too funny!

I don't enjoy owning things much because I perceive exclusive ownership as limiting so I live accordingly. I gave away all my things except for one suitcase. No TV, no car, no contractual obligations, no debt.
I like to have as little luggage as possible but at the same time carry everything I need.
I have to think back a long time to recall a week without good food, inspiration, rest and reflection, good people, laughter, metaphorical warmth and actual sunshine, walking barefoot, being outside and using body and mind.

discovering new and old places and things, a beach or river or lake or mountain or city or live event or park or festival. Let's climb up your favorite waterfall.

or reading or writing or listening or doing absolutely nothing.

exercise!
frisbee swimming football skiing beach-volley and yes, I'll try your favorite sport. Recently I played boccia and went sailing and failed at slack-lining, challenge me!

I like taking trains, hitchhiking, riding scooters, bicycles!!, snow mobiles, jetskis, boats, skis, old buses where you can open the windows and stick your head out - walking, too!

I feel like whatever happens will be fine, whether I will remain on one continent or one home and only go to visit other continents once in a while or keep exploring.

PHILOSOPHY
O que o amor faria?

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I can make you laugh or think or smile. If I trust you, my friends are your friends, my homes are your homes, my knowledge is your knowledge, I will not hesitate to ask one friend of mine to help another friend of mine just because they haven't met or maybe never will.

For me, CS is part of a paradigm shift - people will increasingly employ technology to network, research, connect with and reach out to like-minded individuals they have never met before. It has had great impact on countless lives already and I wonder how the limitations of the websites and provided services (freeloaders, privacy, creeps, terms of service, ulterior motives, abuse of technology etc) will hinder that process.
I have hosted and surfed couches of friends long before I knew about this website. When I joined, I discovered that some of the people I value highly were already on it. That was in 2008! Since then, I have met and stayed in touch with many friends I may not have met without couchsurfing so thank you, grazie, gracias, dankjewel, danke, merci, obrigado, xie xie, gamsahamnida, chukran, toda, dieredief, çok sağol to so many of you!

Intereses

think
I love a good mindfuck, it's a grand grand playing field out there.

For me, history connects a lot of dots and context is everything!
spontaneity minimalism gratitude simplicity happiness presence freedom intentional community psychology collective vs individual public vs private ownership politics sociology institutions media equality abundance access privilege culture consumption languages perception communication movement identities foreign policy governance autonomy macroeconomics diversity the human race tolrrance socioeconomic systems international relations correlations commonalities & differences anthropology wild life nature nature nature.

If any of these things figure prominently in your area of expertise/knowledge/research, I would appreciate some insight! Curiosity is my middle name.

Algo increíble que he hecho

There are beautiful places everywhere!

places I liked, closely related to people I've met and in no particular order
Lake Baikal, Russia
Austria (especially Innschbruck!)
Czech Republic, Poland (Krakow), Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia - lets just say South-Eastern Europe
Corsica
Mallorca
Bermuda
U.S. (NYC, Boston, CT!, Rhode Island, VT, Hawaii)
Kurdish Iraq and Kosovo back when I thought it’s interesting to see post-conflict societies
Turkey (Mediterranean Coast, Cappadokia, East Anatolia, Izmir(!), Antalya, Istanbul, Datça, Marmaris, Fethiye - 48!). Name one people! I say the Turkish.
Northern Syria (Aleppo, before the old soukh went up in flames)
Germany (Berlin oh Berlin Heidelberg, Rostock) Name one city! I say Berlin.
Netherlands - Mestreech!
China - Xiamen! Beijing, Chengdu, beautiful Yunnan
Korea - miss you! Seoul!, Busan, Namhae, the green north-east, beaches, mountains, my brother. Name one cuisine! I say Korean.
Thailand - so much more to see there.
Myanmar - haven’t been after the recent changes.
Philippines
Uruguayyyyy! - Name one politician you respect! I say Mujica.
Chilean Andes
Buenos Aires
Barcelona
Cuba - see Myanmar
Vietnam
Cambodia - Name one lake! I say Banlung.
Laos
Southern India - Hampi, Gokarna, Kerala
Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Casamance (!), Bissau.

Much remains to be seen:
After five months in West Africa in 2015, I still haven't made it further than Guinea-Bissau. There is so much more for me to learn on that continent but there is also no need to hurry.
I've never been to Libanon, I would like to see more of South America and the Carribean. Mexico interests me no less than Côte-d'Ivoire.
I feel a strong urge to return to Asia, I've been spending at least a month a year in Europe for all these years, I already miss Turkey even though I was just there for a month and I should be ashamed of myself for not having visited my friends close like family in the U.S. and South Korea in way too long.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

everything? Check the 'my interests' category! I am happy to share all I've learned..
I put down all my languages as learning because there is always room for improvement. I can teach English, German, Portuguese, Chinese. With Spanish, Dutch and Russian I am a bit rusty but always happy to show you the basıcs. I learned French and Turkish this year and I can make you feel understood in Wolof if you are Senegalese or Gambian.
I would really like to learn Darija, a more standard Arabic, Suaheli or another widely spoken African language like Pula, Farsi and Korean. Every time I learn a language, I also absorb a new way to think and feel, a new body language and a new way to behave. I can't wait to meet 'Korean me'!

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I enjoy sharing all my resources, the real question is what do you want to learn or what do you need?
Wıth hosts as with anyone else I meet, I want to be respectful, leave things behind either the same as they were or better and do things together because I think that is what makes us human!
Nowadays I mostly use the groups to exchange information as I usually have a friend or a friend of a friend in all the places I visit but I love meeting new people of all kinds more than ever.
