Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To conquer university and fill my summer holidays with fabulous adventures and relaxing times!

ABOUT ME

I'm a charismatic, down to earth and honest gal who had an insatiable urge to see as much of the world as possible. So I finished school and set off around the globe for 2 years, with a vague plan up my sleeve, little of which I stuck to. I ended up in a load of wonderfully obscure places and begrudgingly came home at the beginning of this year to start the long haul of university study. I'm now a year into a double degree - Bachelor of Psychology and Laws at the University of Tasmania - and have also completed first year of the Diploma of Satyananda Yoga Training. I'll be traveling throughout my summer holiday and plan to go on exchange to America later in 2011 or for 2012. So I'll be back in the CS loop =)

Study things aside, I'm a classically trained vocalist who dabbles in blues and folk with my wonderful, talented friends :) and my violin has been part of me since I was three years old. I love a stage, so theatre has been a wacky part of my life over the past years and I spent much of my high school life touring around Australia with professional choirs such as Gondwana Voices. I'm part of many conservation and eco sustainability projects around Tasmania and I've grown up being involved in Satyananda Yoga (thank you, mother dear). I have a deep interest in Indian culture and the yogic philosophies and hence I'm a frequent visitor of the sub continent. I'm also vegetarian and LOVE Indian food, both cooking and eating it :) And the wilderness... the wilderness and outdoors have been a passion of mine ever since I was a bub. Having an outdoor adventure tour guide as a father has helped this hobby along quite nicely!

PHILOSOPHY

'Plans were made to be broken.' This is becoming more and more apparent the older I get.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I dream of the days when I was a free roaming couch surfer on the hunt for lonely couches and interesting, genuine hosts. But I'm back at home now and not yet in a position to host. When I am, you'll find a big, cushy, comfy couch with lots of cushions and plenty of doonahs, blankets, pillows and sheets up for grabs! In the meantime, I'm more than happy to meet with CouchSurfers in Hobart for a coffee or drink and give info on what to see and do around Tasmania.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far so So SO good! I've been incredibly lucky with my CouchSurfing experiences around the world. Most of my hosts have been totally cool people, relaxed and friendly, going out of their way to make me feel welcome. I've also met some brilliant co surfers, some of whom have become good friends :)

Satyananda Yoga, psychology, international politics, outdoor adventure, travel, anything Indian (particularly food, philosophy, culture and Satyananda Yoga), music (both listening to it and making it), violin, voice, choirs, good literature, environmental conservation, beers with friends on a sunny day...

Algo increíble que he hecho

One thing? Oh golly... Performed in front of a 100,000 strong crowd at the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne... Traipsed through pitter pattering snow in the Himalayas to our view point. The snow stopped as soon as we summitted, the clouds parted and the sun shone down on the peeks in all its golden glory... slept under the stars in the middle of the Rajasthani desert with my camel munching laboriously on a nearby tree... The Tasmanian wilderness is on my doorstep, providing no end of incredible outdoor adventure potential. I take advantage of it frequently!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'm more than happy to share my knowledge of India and Satyananda Yoga - two things which have been prominent parts of my life. Too much detail required to write anything much here but if you're interested, just ask!
