About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Starting the Next Chapter of My Life in the SF Bay Area!

ABOUT ME

A 50-something Western Canadian who still thinks he's 25. Dreamer, thinker, photographer, traveler, entrepreneur, software developer. Adores women immensely but is still working on understanding them! :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Too many get caught up in the noise of everyday life to hear the symphony of what life is really all about.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do host CS'ers from time to time but my work often takes precedence. Having relocated to San Francisco in late 2014, I'm absolutely LOVING my new city and always eager to show visitors around ... when I'm free.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with friends and friends of friends throughout my life so before I joined I understood the concept quite well. Since joining CouchSurfing I have hosted about 25 sets of people - sometimes one, sometimes two, sometimes even more. All but one provided an incredibly wonderful experience. I have only CouchSurfed at others' homes a few times but had good experiences each time.

Interests

Photography, travel, bicycling, hiking, walking, volleyball, cooking, reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ayn Rand and Mark Steyn are two of my favourite authors. I listen to a variety of music but Steve Winwood is very much at top of the list of my favourites. Here's my absolute favourite all-time song, the words of which give me great inspiration: http://youtube.com/watch?v=XS513FRfbwE

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked on the Island of Kauai, hiked to the top of Mt. Kinabalu, Malaysia, driven most of Hwy 101 on the West Coast of the U.S., always been a great uncle to the kids of my friends around the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Two of my greatest personal accomplishments were:
- To found http://BCDigitalDivide.org
- To work as a volunteer at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver
- Go on a world trip of sorts in 2013-2014, to 4 countries in Asia & 4 in Europe

What I Can Share with Hosts

A comfortable, safe place to stay. I get along really well with most people and have frequently made longtime friends with people who were initially CS guests.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States
