CURRENT MISSION

Bringing up my daughter in a life full of contradictory impulses and forces. Can't remember what I did yesterday or a part of today but, finally, must build a cottage near Turbo, start writing and going back to my music. Celebrate day to day realities!

PHILOSOPHY

There is only one constant in life and that is... change, of course. I live for a purpose that is not necessarily always defined by me. I am content and I have an alternative solution to world peace. Try to be true to yourself and to others and in disagreement don't get obnoxious. Don't dismiss religion. Meditate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do not participate in the CS project at this time. I want to visit various places at some point but can share with members, now. I don't always have a place to put you up but can offer advice on various questions, including security, for Kenya and Tanzania.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, officially but, when in the UK I normally give my friends a short notice before I end up on the couch there. In the US I stay with an ex-Prof and give him about a month's notice normally. He gives me a bedroom to myself. In India I have relatives all over the place except in the South where I have to stay in a hotel. Japan: Hotel; China: stayed at my ex-biz partner's place; Europe: Hotels; Africa - often at our own house wherever (Mombasa or Tanga) otherwise hotels;

Interests

Writing, family, homeschooling, anti-imperialist, peace activist; musician who still has to go to the shop and get a nice guitar and my piano is looking after a place close to my heart in a house deep in the forest/ woodland in N Tanzania.

All. Memorable movies are fading from memory... Bond movies in general, Live and Let Die in particular, Elizabeth R, Chinatown, Soylent Green, Bobby, Pakeezah, ET and Close Encounters...
Books I can safely go by authors, Aye Kwei Armah, Wahome Mutahi, Wole, Naipaul, Chinese pre-independence writing, poetry... some of the post moderns, John Donne, Thomas Traherne, Shakespeare,
Music - most kinds of music but I like to listen to and play classical and meditative music.... The early Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Bozz Scaggs, Eagles, Santana, Chicago, and much more

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flight, especially the change in nervous system during Transcendental Meditation techniques;

Teach, Learn, Share

Almost anything - wish I could just be teacher sometimes. I would teach beginning piano, English and early French, early swimming and things like that. I can talk about my version of a peaceful Islam.
