About Me

I love going out, having a good time with friends, having a beer or two, jamming on the guitar or piano as well as singing. I also like doing sports. I love music, enjoy photography and of course traveling. I also love to cook!

PHILOSOPHY
Don't go the easy way, go the right way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a friendly, open minded person that can show you around Berlin, take you to little Jazz-clubs, huge electro-clubs or the opera. Whatever you like. :) As you see, I have wide interests.
I want to contribute to this amazing cultural exchange, and help keep couchsurfing going.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couchsurfing experience has been amazing. I am blown away by the friendliness, open-mindedness, trust & generosity of all varieties of people. I am glad to see that some people still believe in the good in people.
Some examples: Me and my good friend stayed in Bunol with a very generous gay couple, who actually run a bed & breakfast, but to couchsurfers, they offer their rooms for free.

Then I stayed for almost a week with Gabriel in Valencia, who was the perfect host. He picked me up from the train station, we cooked together, he gave me a tour of the city. WOW. He treated me like we'd been friends for many years. Amazing!!!

And then I stayed with Laurens, who lives in Utrecht. After that, he came to my birthday party in January 2009, and stayed for a weekend with his friend, which was so much fun! Then in march this year, Matze & Maike and I went back to visit him for Queensday and it was great again.

Interests

most of all food, cooking and going out, traveling, learning, growing, hanging out with my nephew, learning languages, sports & being healthy; outdoors, cooking amazing meals, photography, and of course traveling. In general I am interested in having a good time & being happy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Bremerton, WA when I was 16/17 for a year and went to High School there. Being an exchange student in a foreign country is the best. Experiencing another culture at such a young age is so overwhelming and forming. I'm very thankful for this amazing experience. It has really made the person I am today. And I have been couchsurfing since 2008 because meeting new people from all over the world broadens your horizon and sharpens your perspective. It's a gift.

The coast of Washington State and Oregon, the old highway 1, is a beautiful road to drive down. I did A road trip from Seattle to San Francisco and it was truly beautiful. I would totally do it again, I think I definitely will do it again sometimes in this lifetime of mine.

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't go the easy way, but go the right way. although last will usually be a lot harder, it will be the only way that can make you happy. I live this philosophy. I believe that it will pay off in the end if you always work hard and do whatever you know is right although it sucks at the moment. You will be a happy person in the end. Happiness is my goal. (This is my profile from 2008 :)
