About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Saving for the Trip of a Lifetime...

ABOUT ME

So, I went to Southeast Asia in October 2007 and officially began the addiction to traveling. I went to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, and Bali. It was my first trip out of the country, and I was alone, and it was amazing.

I went to Europe in February/March 2011 with my girl Roxy, we hit Dublin, London, Prague, Budapest, Paris, and Spain in a month! It was intense, but worth it.

Went to Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Northern Italy, Croatia, Greece, and Istanbul from March to May of 2014, half of the time with my amazing sister. It was incredible, despite getting my passport stolen in Spain :(

I love coffee shops, hot chocolate with cayenne, music, spicy everything, film, dancing, reading, sketching, more reading, avocados, painting, healthy food, and exploring. I love beautiful colorful/surreal/vintage-looking art. I love photography and I'm hoping I'll be able to accomplish some photo journalism along the way. I would love to get some sort of teaching certification and teach art to kids around the world/do freelance photojournalism, and basically just figure out a way to get paid to travel, which is what I truly love. I'm also looking into some serious volunteer tourism in Africa, India, and South America. I just want to see as much as I can in this valuable time that I have. Wanderlust isn't the easiest kind of lust to be possessed by, but to me it's one of the most amazing...

PHILOSOPHY

I just like to be quiet and observe. I live my life to watch people and see what it's all about. It's really just a series of beautiful (and occasionally excruciating) experiences. I wouldn't trade a minute of it.

Borrowed Philosophy: "I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center." - Kurt Vonnegut

"Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter can be said to remedy anything." - Vonnegut again

"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them." - Henry David Thoreau

"There are some days when I think I'm going to die from an overdose of satisfaction." - Salvador Dali

"“I just don't want to die without a few scars." - Chuck Palahniuk

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Whenever I have a space I am happy to allow people to stay with me, unfortunately I have been working 6 days a week lately and not home much, and not able to respond to anyone either. Sorry about the low percentage guys... If I end up staying with you, I cook! And trust me, I am a pretty good cook...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with a guy in San Diego while I was visiting my sister. Andy, who is awesome, and basically just gave me free reign of his home to come and go as I pleased. He truly embodied the Mi Casa es su casa ideal. Thank you Andy!

I also couchsurfed with Eric and his adorable girlfriend upon experimenting with the concept of moving to Seattle...but I decided to wait on the move and head to New York instead. But they made it possible for me to check out Seattle and I am so grateful!

I've also had a couple of amazing people from Spain, and the Netherlands stay with me :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One is not enough:
Gone to Morocco, in general.
Sunset in Oia, Greece...just being in Greece.
Walking between villages in Cinque Terre, Italy
Visiting the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, and the cemetery in Zagreb.
Sunsets in Thailand and Bali.
Ta Prohm at dawn in Cambodia before anyone else was there.
Monsoon rains in Vietnam.
Sitting on a porch in Ubud, Bali by myself just listening and watching rain fall on vibrant green and colored everything around me.
The lush green everything in Ireland.
The fairy tale beauty of Prague and Budapest.
Paris in the rain, at night.
Spanish everything.

I've been at the most beautiful full moon parties on tops of mountains in California.
There's nothing like a sunrise in February, above an ocean of clouds atop a mountain, when everything is covered in ice so that even the air is shimmering.

And most recently I've lived in and wandered all around Brooklyn and New York City.

Driven Cross-Country, twice.
Plus California to Seattle and back.
California to New Mexico and back...
