About Me

I'm a storyteller and wanderer who's lived in Asheville since 2016. I'm an author of two books, editor for a men's community blog, and a podcast producer for shows covering nitty-gritty intersections of faith, sexuality, and masculinity. I'm an INFJ / Enneagram 4, and I'm passionate about self-awareness and growth outside our comfort zones.

I've worked as a mentor and tutor at a therapeutic boarding school for teen boys in drug/alcohol recovery, along with jobs at learning centers, camps, and wilderness therapy. Kids inevitably teach me way more than I could ever hope to teach them: patience, perspective, even self-worth and purpose.

I've been stocking journals since I was seven years old and blogging for the last decade about my Christian faith, my struggles, my wanderings, and my restless search for "home." I published my first book in 2013, a vulnerable collection of messy memoirs called: STRUGGLE CENTRAL: Quarter-Life Confessions of a Messed Up Christian.

I've received emails from readers all over the world, and I even met a few dozen of them on a 9-month road trip around America and Canada. I discovered the wonders of Couchsurfing on that quest, and I had the ride of my life! In 2017, I published my second book about this continental road trip called: RUNNING TO: In Search of Home on the Open Road.

You can find both of my books on Amazon! I recently re-released STRUGGLE CENTRAL with a 10-year anniversary edition and new reflections on the last decade.

After an isolated upbringing, I'm learning to look at my life like a story, authored by a God beyond my comprehension and yet so evidently behind every interaction and revelation. I'm passionate about Jesus and broken people, and seeing struggling stories turn to redemption on the next page.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I surfed with 30+ hosts road-tripping between 2014-15! I love the continuing stories Couchsurfing invariably brings. Traveling via Couchsurfing has become less about the places visited and more about the people encountered. I want to host others because of what so many have given me on the road.

Interests

Writing, reading, running, working out, hiking, watching sunsets, taking epic Instagram pictures, inhabiting coffee shops for hours, walking to and from stores and everywhere, and basking in the great outdoors.
