About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Truth-Seeker! Creating and positively shaping the world that I have inherited!

ABOUT ME

As Walt Whitman said, "I am large, I contain multitudes."

I am an artist and creative (we were all born to be creative), a thinker, questioner, dream-writer, and imaginary speech-maker. I still love to skip and whistle and run and flap my arms and climb on things and I encourage everyone to do the same. : )

PHILOSOPHY

Oh man, I'm going to have to come back to this later, but to summarize quickly, I strive for and I wish for the whole world: Peace, Truth, Love, Balance, Wisdom (not just knowledge), happiness and acceptance, and an understanding and deep knowing that we are all connected.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have yet to experience the many couches and beautiful people who provide them in this great world! I did stay on my friends' couch for a few months when I moved to New York and am eternally grateful for their kindness and generosity, re-paid them with as many bottles of wine and little kindnesses my broke self could offer at the time, and am SO glad for the closer friendships that time created : )

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I tend to host friends that I meet just by chance! Though technically I haven't yet used couchsurfing.org to host or to stay somewhere, I have been that person in the bar whose hand shoots up a solid Yes! in response to "Hey, do you guys know couchsurfing? Do you think my friend and I could stay with you tonight?" And I have met kindred spirits and made lifelong friends in those moments : )

Interests

I love to sketch, paint, write, I'm learning banjo and hoping to re-learn violin, I love to have stimulating conversations about anything from quantum physics, to LEAN thinking...I will never be able to chat about a favorite tv show with familiarity because I haven't got one, but I always love to hear about yours... I love to laugh, and try not to take myself or life too seriously.

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOVE live music. I've been going to the Newport Folk Fest every summer, but I'm all over the place: indie rock, Pixies, gypsy jazz, soul etc.. I'm all over the place when it comes to music : )
I love to read: tons of non-fiction, but sometimes Whitman, EE Cummings, Hesse's Siddhartha is one of my favorite books, Thich Nhat Hanh's writings. There are usually a couple books next to my sketchbook in my bag at all times.
Films: I'm famously unschooled in pop culture, especially film, but I enjoyed a tiny flirtation with film-making which I may try again. I enjoy trying to understand the process: where the camera was, how the sets were rendered/built, the cuts, the synchronicity of the soundtrack and I love the editing process, it's like collage-ing a mood/story into existence.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You know, I feel like the most amazing things I've seen or done are too personal to just put up here. Not that they are any more or less amazing than anyone else's experience, I just would rather have these things revealed naturally in conversation, rather than blurted out in an online text box. : )

Teach, Learn, Share

I am trained as a silversmith, designer and artist. I can teach anything from intense metalsmithing (a lil rusty right now) to drawing on Adobe Illustrator to free-flowing-close-your-eyes-and-draw-with-your-opposite-hand kind of thing. I know a 'lil French. I am currently teaching myself about non-violent communication and authentic relating, so maybe I can teach so of that in the future. : )

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Ireland

Countries I’ve Lived In
