Overview
About Me
I went to college in Ohio to study literature and politics only to return home and take up a project in sociology. I'm unabashedly geeky when it comes to discussing history and politics, especially of South Asia. I enjoy analyzing human psychology informally, endlessly curious about what really makes us tick. Oh, and I consider myself quite a foodie: I love exploring new cuisines in offbeat locales and coming up with "Best Of" lists. Lastly, please understand that I have a dangerously raging sweet tooth: I can talk about desserts for an unreasonable amount of time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like meeting new people, learning languages, and immersing myself in different cultures. I also know the struggles of traveling or moving to a new country. Yes, it's hard to meet knowledgeable locals who are genuine and won't rip you off. And yes, it is equally difficult to minimize accommodation costs while finding a place with good sanitary conditions.
Interests
I think I'm most interested in learning about cultural forces and products—be it through a fiction book or political activism or cuisine or aesthetic choices.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I'm a history buff. Having majored in scrutinizing fiction, I've come to enjoy non-fiction that captures the nuances of place and culture, like William Dalrymple or Pankaj Mishra. I also like alternative histories, like Rushdie or Marquez. I also love reading about conspiracy theories.
Movies: Bollywood or Hollywood, I'll consume thrillers and rom-coms.
Music: I don't have fixed tastes. I love Drake and Kendrick as much as I love Rachmaninoff and Bartok.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Written a 80 page thesis on Kashmiri poetry.
