Fictional characters can sometimes be more inspiring than creatures made of flesh and blood:)
Books, authors, poets:
Nâzım Hikmet (the one and only)
Bret Easton Ellis (His critics cannot agree if he's a moralist or not. This, combined with his intellectual brilliancy makes him one of my favorite modern authors - American Psycho; besides the atrocities: Bad-ass marvelous book :)
Yaşar Kemal (colorful, hopeful, powerful… Why did he not receive the Nobel Prize in Literature?...)
Aldous Huxley - How can he make me like Mr. Hutton though I am reluctant to those kind of persons? Why did he have to die??:)
Thomas Harris (Hannibal Lecter's creator and an intelligent story-teller)
Milan Kundera's most famous one (aficionados will know) unfolds the pursuit of happyness in a meloncholic dress...
Stefan Zweig, such a naive, pacifistic and pure character, I definitely have to read more of his works
Albert Camus - Authors of the 30's&40's cannot lie and, especially him, he was decades ahead of his time... Do yourself a favor and read "L'Étranger - The Stranger"
John Steinbeck - You know that Lennie (in "Of Mice and Men") had to die, don't you?... ;)
Movies:
M. Scorsese (state-of-the-art portaying), Crossing Over, Shame, Crimson Tide and a lot more... I just can't say no to good movies.
