About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Starting my new life in Le Havre on some good grounding!

ABOUT ME

I'm sure I'm just like you. We're great persons, aren't we?

PHILOSOPHY

Whaaat? I've no such things as a personal philosophy. Just trying to do my best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new! And trying to figure it all out. But THEN...ah ah, THEN, you should see HOW I will participate! ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Few with this site yet! But I've already slept on some couches in my life :)

Interests

Of course, I'm interested in far more things than I can list, but here are some things I've been doing so far: franticly listening to music, writing, watching movies (classic ones if possible) and Tv-shows, reading, pastry baking, knitting, walking around. Travelling, even if it is not far - isn't it already some kind of travel, walking down a street you never walked down before? Discovering new things, new places, new activities, new music and new people! Enjoying the good things in life: to take a walk, to find a new bar, café or restaurant, to discuss the world, to go to the movies or to a concert.
And getting to know other countries! Learning from people there.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music - Arcade Fire, Element of Crime, The Who, Gorillaz, Santogold, Simon and Garfunkel, Miossec, Boris Vian, Air, Queen, Vampire Weekend, Born Ruffians... I've been listening to a lot of German Rock from the 70s lately. It may sound not sexy at all, but if you listen to Ton Steine Scherben, Witthüser und Westrupp oder Floh de Cologne, you might find yourself enjoying it, too.

- Movies - I've seen The Princess Bride (Rob Reiner) many times. It's so funny and what subject is more interesting than true love? Also romantic but really in another way is Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire), directed by Wim Wenders. The images are beautiful and the texts are poetic and philosophical - but somehow, it is not boring at all :) I've recently seen A Streetcar Named Desire (Elia Kazan) and it really "got" to me. More contemporary, I love the work of German director Fatih Akin, I'm especially a big fan of Gegen die Wand (Head-on). There's also some French movies I enjoy watching, like On connaît la chanson (Same Old Song, Alain Resnais), Le premier jour du reste de ta vie (The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life, Rémi Bezançon ) and Le Nom des Gens (The Names of Love, Michel Leclerc). This one is really funny!

- TV-Shows - Some of them are very good. Misfits, Dr. Who, Friends and The West Wing are my favorites at the moment.

- Literature - There are times when I read a lot. I've enjoyed reading books from Alexandre Dumas, Henrich Böll, Albert Cohen, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Albert Camus, Ernest Heimingway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One great thing I've done was to walk on a gigantic frozen lake right in the middle of Hamburg, together with hundreds of people. The Alster freezes only maybe once in a decade. But I was there last time it did (2010): Yeay! An amazing view on the city and a dream-atmosphere.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach German to French people (who just thought "nobody can teach any foreign language to a French"? I heard you and it's not totally true)

I could teach knitting.

I really wish to learn how to sew (with a sewing machine), and I could use some basic knowledge of how my car works...

Most of all, I would like to find someone to do a "tandem" French/English or French/German - that is to say I teach you French if you need it, and you teach me your language. I've been living in Germany for a while and I would be verry sorry if I forget all about die Sprache! As for English, writing my full CS-profile in English reminded me of how much I could use refreshing the language. I would like to speak with a native speaker, even getting some grammar lessons would be useful. In a tandem, we could do that very smoothly and pleasantly, speaking about our countries and whatever interests us, in both languages. Do contact me if you're interested!
