About Me

CURRENT MISSION

While I'm settling down after long years of travelling I'm still open for new faces, stories and adventures! I couchsurfed so much when I was travelling that now finally I'm happy to be able to host surfers at my own place. Be welcome! :)

ABOUT ME

That's me: friendly, open-minded and helpful. A very typical couchsurfing description I know...
I love my home city Berlin. It's such a great city! But when I came back from one year of travels in Australia and South-East-Asia I decided that this wasn't enough. I left Berlin behind and moved to Luebeck where I studied for 2 more years. Also I went to live in Istanbul for an Erasmus semester which I can easily describe as the best time of my life so far!
Even if there are no existential needs to do so I still think that leaving your home town/city for a certain time is one of the biggest chances we get and shouldn't miss out on. When you hit the road for traveling it's an unique chance to educate yourself.
Now I'm back in Berlin and I like to host you here and show you all of its historical and magnificiant spots.
On my travels meeting new people was the main thing for me and it always will be. To get to know a country you need to socialice with its people. There're people that you wish you would've never met, way more that you'll just have a great time with and with a handful of them you will become friends for live!

PHILOSOPHY

The world is not enough. But come and get it first...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a cozy flat with two separate bedrooms in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. When staying with me I can offer you and your travel companions a separate room where you will have your privacy and where you can sleep in as long as you want. ;)
The district of Prenzlauer Berg is a fantastic starting point for exploring Berlin as it is centrally located and provides very good public transport connections to all other parts of the city. I will help you with advices about Berlin and its "rules" (very few) as good as I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had fantastic experiences being hosted in France and all over Australia and Turkey. I met wonderful people via the couchsurfing meetings in Darwin, Melbourne and Berlin. I hosted people in my van whilst beeing on my way through Australia, made great friends and always had a great time. After gaining so much from being hosted by others all around the world I'm so happy to finally have an appropriate flat where I can offer a separate bedroom and give something back to the cs-community! :)

Interests

In my studies I specialized on Urban Planning. I love talking about that topic and the progress or the related problems at whatever place I am when being asked about it... Share your city's story with me!
I love all kind of music festivals! Electronic music is good for dancing but any other kind of music can be relaxing - depending on the personal mood.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies are great. Star Wars is one of my secret favourites... Series: amongst others Game of Thrones and Seinfeld (well, that's a weird combination...but yeah)
My favourite music is electronic/chill out/minimal. I started to share all kinds of music with people I met when travelling because music is the best way to remember moods, situations and social interactions you've had at certain times. At least as good as photos or videos for sure! Plus there's always new music you can fall in love with.
For reading I prefer books about travelling... :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's nearly impossible to only choose one thing as the world is freaking beautiful. So I'm not gonna try... to start with my latest experiences:
Hitch-hiking through Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey on the way from Bukarest to Istanbul with two buddies from Berlin. An amazing experience, great lifts and interesting talks with our drivers (at least with those that weren't complete racists...), empty beaches, cheap beer and gorgeous couchsurfing hosts! :D
With my Erasmus friends from my time in Istanbul I hitch-hiked a lot in Turkey. That was when we were hosted by Mehmet and couchsurfed on his boat in that beautiful little Mediterranean harbour in the South of Turkey! XD What an exceptional unburdened time!
Walking through freezing Moscow in February was just soooo impressive! Also very atmospheric were Tallin, Riga and Helsinki. Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia... SO many travels, so many stories to tell...
In Australia: scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef, skydiving in Sydney, cliff jumping in Perth, snorkeling at Ningaloo Reef, swimming with whale sharks in Exmouth, swimming in waterfalls in Litchfield National Park and watching sunset and sunrise over Uluru/Ayers Rock.
Skiing the Swiss and/or Austrian Alps almost every winter is one of the must-dos since I have friends in these countries.
But besides all these breathtaking experiences meeting awesome people everywhere I went and will go was/is the most amazing thing for me!

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's have a look at what's on in Berlin when you're here. There is always something, promise! :)
Besides my quite boring main job at the municipality I work as a tour guide for the company "Berlin on Bike" offering guided bicycle tours through Berlin in the weekend. Especially in summer Berlin is a fantastic city for cycling. And cycling is a fantastic way to get to know a lot of the city in relatively short time. Also you get a very unique view of it which you wouldn't get by walking or taking public transport (I wouldn't recommend driving in Berlin at all!). So if you're up for it, I could take you for a free self-organized bicycle tour or maybe get a special price for you at an official tour with "Berlin on Bike".
For the rest we can cook (vegetarian), eat and/or go for drinks and party!
