ABOUT ME

Okay, let's see. First, the basic surface stuff. I'm a 19-year-old American college student studying mediation and international relations. I speak English and intermediate French. When I'm not reading or in school, you could probably find me wandering aimlessly, playing piano, drums, accordion, or guitar, talking with friends, or out on some adventure.
Alright, enough of this surface first-day-of-school stuff. When thinking of who I 'am' as a person, really what comes to mind is my goal to attach accepting possible detachment, to discover and explore this Earth with as much honesty and humility as possible, and forge some meaningful relationships. I'm a pretty introverted person, meaning that I really value authentic one-on-one conversations and close friendships, while also frequently taking time to be by myself to reflect. C'est tous.

Embrace the rarity and brevity of life in the change of the universe by striving forward into each moment with humility, sincerity, simplicity, integrity, vulnerability, a desire for adventure, and an incessant lust to make connections with people and this our wonderful Earth.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I college student living in a dorm, my opportunity to host people is pretty limited. However, the minute I get my own place, my door is open to any and all couchsurfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, as I'm writing this description approximately 10 minutes after creating this profile, my couchsurfing experiences are limited to none so far. I'm planning a trip to Iceland for the entirety of this summer (2013), so hopefully my experiences will grow from that.

...Just about everything. I mean music is a given, as I play and listen to music constantly. I'm a ravenous reader, mostly nonfiction about international conflict and mediation that the vast majority of people would find frighteningly mundane. One of the biggest reasons I decided to join this wonderful community is because I love adventure, of all sorts. I want to see the world, from the seas to the deserts, the mountains to the valleys, and everything in between. In addition to seeing it, I want to meet as many honest people as I can, as I think friendship and connection in general is the cornerstone of creating meaning in life. Mostly I just try to embrace whatever interests happen to arise in a given moment, going with the flow and taking some chances. You only live the once.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I volunteered at a community development center in a small rural town in Croatia called Gvozd for two months last winter. The people there blew me away with their vigor, vitality, friendship, and hospitality. While I went there to teach drums and mediation, the cliché saying that "I learned at least as much as I taught" could not ring truer. Totally life-changin experience.
