About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hang with the locals!

ABOUT ME

Ummmm....tricky to know what to say...

I'm always up for an adventure however mad it may seem to others...i grew up on a farm & love the countryside, seaside and everything outdoors... so I need some greenery and wildness in my life, where possible.
Sunrise, Sunset & moonrise are my favourite times.

PHILOSOPHY

trust in the universe and carry on the cycle... I admire people who are actively following their dreams...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have had lots of people to stay over the years, but not yet through CS... so I welcome people to stay at the farm (when I'm there) in the Sussex countryside near the sea in South England, (though it is lacking in public transport connections) or on the sofa in the flat I share with friends in Brighton.
I made a very last minute trip to Tromso, Norway in 2013, which was my first couchsurfing experience, meeting locals and travellers, learning about life in the true North. Great times which is why I'm still on here!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have officially couchsurfed in Tromso, Norway and in Australia. Also I've stayed with some amazingly welcoming people, whilst on my travels...in a hut in the mountains of West Papua, in a fellow surfer's Moroccan family home, in a tent lent to a friend & I on an Island in the Philippines. Met up with my local Eastbourne Couchsurfing crew,

Interests

Many things interest me....Surfing, exploring, photography, Indigenous People's land rights, permaculture, wild swimming, beachcombing, dancing in fields, herbal medicine, local knowledge, organic farming, growing veggies, music in many forms, people...

Music, Movies, and Books

Live music, friends music, anything with a beat that gets me dancing... reggae, ska, afrobeat, funk, hip hop, folk, acoustic, Kwaito, drum& bass, jungle... Artists; Asian Dub Foundation, Dreadzone, Fela Kuti, Liz Ikamba, Martha Tilston, Sublime, Cat Empire, Gogol Bordelo, Bedouin Soundclash, Miriam Makeba, Laura Mvumba..... Books: Wild by Jay Griffiths, Half of a Yellow Sun, The heart of Redness by Zakes Mda. Film: Just seen The LIfe of Pi, really enjoyed it & the book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled undercover into the West Papua Mountains, hiding from Indonesian military along the route, to film the Independence movement... staying with families of Papuan freedom fighters, incredible people and without sounding dramatic; a life changing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm up for learning anything and everything, particularly interested in learning new languages.

I also have to share stories and knowledge, no doubt I'll discover what I can contribute to the community as I go along...

What I Can Share with Hosts

help with English (when relevant!) but also some bizarre things come to mind... how to make yogurt, grow veggies, about the Freedom movement in West Papua!

Countries I’ve Visited

Brunei Darussalam, Malawi, Morocco, Philippines, Serbia, South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe

Countries I’ve Lived In

Portugal, United Kingdom
