I want to travel but cut costs. I also want to meet interesting people who'll potentially become friends.

ABOUT ME

I enjoy meeting people of all backgrounds and cultures. Having said that, I've already met members of the Republican Party here in the U.S., and reject them as having much validity. I am a Democrat, adhering to most of the party's creeds and initiatives. I've had about five careers in my lifetime, my latest and last one -- and by far, the most satisfactory -- being a science journalist. I write for the local paper on topics of the environment and conservation. I'm the president of my neighborhood association, so I'm involved in civic improvement.

Leave the world a bit better than it was when you entered it.
True friends are hard to come by because true friendship is based on many shared traits. And it takes many years to develop a true friendship.

Interests

Mild exercise, yoga, biking, swimming, any water activity (I love the water). I work with animal welfare groups, primarily feral cats. I volunteer for democratic initiatives, such as phone banks. Right now, I find myself bored and am working on remedying that. I like to do handcrafts such as sewing projects from time to time.

I only read science articles now, preferably literary journalism. I do enjoy most movies, and love sci-fi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen many of our national parks and they are the most amazing places in the U.S. I love the mountains, the sea, and most things in between.
I visited Egypt, which was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't really have any skills that I could mention here. I can tell you all about cat care and health if you're interested; I'm fairly knowledgeable about human health because one of my careers was nursing; I teach social media at a university; I've had an alteration business so I can share how to alter clothing.
